Doesn't Austrian Airlines have any office in Singapore?

I wanted to call and see if they had any seats availble for their SIN-VIE flight on the 9th but I can't find any reservation number for them here in Singapore...

If they don't have an office here does anyone know who handles their reservations? SIA?

Slightly off topic, but SQ and OS are now codesharing on the SIN-VIE v.v. sector of OS's new service.

This is an interesting development because in 1996 or 1997, back in the days when SQ and OS (pre-merger with Lauda) were both allied with the former SR, OS briefly codeshared on SQ's nonstop A340 services to SIN. SQ terminated this codeshare agreement because a lot of the tickets OS sold to SIN were not to paxs originating in VIE, but to paxs originating in other European cities, thus siphoning paxs away from SQ's services at their other online European points. Their fares also undercut SIA's, thus leading to a difficult relationship.

Hi Ex_SQer, thanks for the information.

The Austrian Airlines GSA is a bit horrible, simply due to OS Vienna's hurry to start the route on 3rd June ( took the first flight to MEL from SIN ). The agents manning the phones can be "ignorant" and don't seemed to know a lot of things.

Payment for credit card incurs 2% extra, airtixs manually issued. Hope they have upgraded their operations since then.

OS had trouble getting the ETA (OZ Visa) linked coz OS in Vienna didn't inform Canberra about the new flight (thank goodness nothing went wrong in MEL). Had to get a manual written boarding card because of that.

As of now, the loads seemed good out of Vienna and Melbourne, but the joining load from SIN remains very low.

Wouldn't the same thing happen in many code-share relationships? I do not believe the old SQ/OS code-share agreement allowed OS to code-share on SQ flights beyond SIN. Thus it would be natural to assume that OS would want to sell tickets to SIN from a variety of European ports by way of VIE.

Of course such things happen in codeshare relationships.

My main aim in posting that information was because I think that it is ironic that SQ is codesharing with OS again after their previous relationship ended on a negative note (same applies to their relationship with AC). SQ isn't exactly known for being able to maintain good relationships with their partners, hence I am keen to see what develops out of this one.

Thanks for the clarification, Ex_SQer. It will be interesting to see how it plays out - particularly since it is OS who is now operating the route instead of SQ.
