LVZXV:

9V-SMC(TF-AMA) has not yet begun flying revenue flights for IB. Im not sure what the delay is, but as Soups pointed out...it is still in Singapore. I just got back from MAD yesterday and the aircraft was nowhere in sight. Flights are still being operated by B747-300(TF-ARS) while IB awaits the arrival of TF-AMA.

P.S. - You are in the UK now? You move around alot no?  Wink/being sarcastic

Thanks for the correction. Yes, these last two years I've done a fair amount of travelling (40 flights in 2003 and 24 flights so far this year!). Until IB's 744 arrives, I'm afraid you'll just have to contend with this one:

I guess these planes, being ex SIA, have personal IFE. They would be the only ones in IB's fleet with this feature. Can anybody confirm?
Also, do these a/c replace the A330s that IB was supposed to be leasing from TAM or LTU?

I must admit, I love the blue of the new AR livery but it's a little rich with the white. Imagine their 744 in this colour-scheme:

IB's 744 looks good too, though it could do with an update, in my opinion. By the way, for how much longer are IB planning to retain the 747 Classics? AR is down to four already, soon to be three... Who will be the first?  Big grin

Do you really like AR current livery? In my honest humble opinion, it's one of the worst arround! "traté de ser VS en azul, pero no me resultó".
As you said, the best AR livery was the oldest one, with this beautiful "A"s in the tail.
I would try that, but with a touch of "today".
BTW, wasn't current AR livery supposed to be temporary?

Good for Iberia, I flew them on the weekend on a 343 from JNB-MAD and am flying that route again on the 23rd of July, just because that aircraft has "decent" IFE, doesnt mean that Iberia will offer it.

Has there ever been any talk of Iberia upgrading there business or First Class or putting PTV in economy class?

I'm just curious toknow but, did IB get any 743's on lease lately? Are these still the ones that IB leased from Air Atlanta? Today I was outside and I saw an IB 747 which looked very much like a -300 model since it looked like it had a SUD without winglets coming into JFK. I know that IB is to lease two 744's but I thought that they had returned the 743's a while back.

Arcano:

I like the shade of blue and the fact that the fin, engines and winglets are fully painted, although sadly at the expense of the entire fuselage. I would have combined the "bincha" fuselage livery with painted fin, engines and winglets, or otherwise, with the current livery, written "AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS" in a more stylish font, and, to be really radical, paint what is in blue on the starboard side of the fuselage (of the domestic fleet) red, in honour of Austral, who still exist, incidentally.
The current colours of AR could be temporary, but two years after their introduction, and with 43 of the 51 planes (84%) in service wearing them, it would be a bit of a waste of $$$$$$$ to repaint the fleet for nothing. What I have seen is that AR is slowly introducing a new celeste and navy-blue uniform for stewardesses, unveiled last year.
When in doubt, look to AR's parent company, Air Plus Comet. The most recent additions to their fleet illustrate no changes for the time being, so my advice is slip back into "wait and see" mode, the best view for developments in Latin America!  Wink/being sarcastic

I see, I just think this scheme does not work.
aesthetically, the fact that the fin is painted in X colors does not mean the engines can be painted the same and look fine. The white body just cut both blues and they get lost. VS has de same troubles.

BTW, the drafts I've seen of Aerolineas del Sur look also very similar; I mean it's basically AR livery, "con el toque chileno"

Would the "toque chileno" comprise the Star of Arauco, by any chance? If so, how would it look? As for VS, well I think they got right in the end, certainly look far more snazzy than BA which flew through a violent colour storm (even a hurricane) between the Landor days and the current Union Flag. I've gone off BA tremendously. At a time they were my favourite airline. But not any longer...

IB's Classics are down to three aircraft already  Smile/happy/getting dizzy EC-DIA/DIB/HVD. There are two Classics stored at La Muñoza, one without engines already. They are EC-IAF and EC-DNP. I am not sure what plan they have with those two aircraft...either sell them or scrap them. I would think that by the end of the year the last 2 Classics will be gone.

Mark777300:

Those are still the same 747-300's currently on lease. They have not been returned to Air Atlanta as of yet. The two 747-400's that are being wet-leased are to handle extra capacity. But rest assured that the 747-300's will be sticking around for a while longer.

lMonti:

IB will unveil a new Business/First with the arrival of its 4th A340-600 in October. From then on the new Business/First will be introduced into the A340-300's currently in the fleet as well as the new A340-600's that will be coming in.

That's an absolutely gorgeous bird. Will the 744 replace the routes operated by the other 747 variation aircrafts operated by IB? Or will they operate completely different and longer routes? Aerolineas Argentina's 744 new livery also looks amazing.

IB will start with HAV. I landed in HAV on march, and saw a 742 landing there. It actually surprised me, as South America is served with smaller 340s (does that aircraft continue the ride after HAV?).

That picture of AR is not their new livery, it's just a suggestion that some people does for fun. By right-clicking the photo you can get the source and look for another fine fake pictures!

The IB744s are in Spain...finally!!!

I just got back (5 hours ago) from the famous "Mega meet in Manchester" (organised by a few English a.net members) and as our BA A319 was taxiing to the gate I saw one of the 2 744s parked right behind the all-white 743 TF-ARS. They´re here!!!

BTW...the meet at MAN has been incredible!!!
