I am thinking of using VS for the SYD-HKG when they come to SYD at the end of the year (due to their UCS and also possible cheaper fares).

I am comtemplating in which FFP should I join.

Is there a homepage where there are comparisons, info on all FFP in all the airlines at the moment?

perhaps http://www.flyertalk.com will be helpful.

I'm all in favour of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with keyboards.

I suggest you enroll with SIA's Krisflyer. Given the fact that you live down under you may catch one of their flights in the future as well....

+ is that Krisflyer brings you a Silver/Gold status with relatively few miles
- is that you can not earn miles on all booking classes (may want to check your booking class first)

Hope this helps.

Completely agree with WindowSeat re Flyertalk. Forums on each of the airlines & their FF programs. You'll get a real flavor for each of the airlines you're contemplating...the ups and the downs! Other great travel info there as well in the various forums.
