Hey guys

I dont have time to write a trip report, but I wanted you all to hear about the wonderful experience I had with Northwest today.

I was on NW972 AUS-MSP and was seated in row 20/21 with four of my friends. Knowing it would be a loud and uncomfortable flight, we were all prepped with headphones etc to try and drown out the noise. Before we could get our selves involved in doing this, though, a flight attendant named Bonnie came to the back and told us how sorry she was that we had to take these seats, but that shed like to move us up to first class!

With that said, I moved from 20F to 2A and had the best flight of my life- with funny, attentive service and an attitude towards customers that was so exemplary-- I am speechless. We were treated like full fare first class customers.

This entire trip with Northwest EWR-DTW-AUS-MSP-EWR was flawless, with great crews and awesome service- and todays experience was just another reminder of why I continue, and urge others, to fly the red tails. I am so greatful for this awesome experience... and I just wanted to share it with all of you. Lately there have been a lot of anti-Northwest threads.

This goes to show you that they are largely unjustified. Not on one sole account for me, but all 4 flights.

Long live Northwest!

An extremely happy,
JBLUA320

That's awesome!! I would suspect that you are flying on a DC-9. Thats very nice of the F/A. If the seats aren't taken, what the heck?

NW has some great FA's, I remember on my flight from ANC-DTW talking with one for hours in the galley (intermittently of course while she was serving meals/drinks)

Sometimes we have to do that for weight and balance.....sometimes I do it just to be nice. But when its done who do you think gets moved up? Someone who acted like an ass or someone who didn't.

NW!!!  Big thumbs up And all these folks constantly complaining about service. I hope you take the time and write NW a letter concerning Bonnie.

As long as she doesn't get reprimanded for it.
Ben, How did Bonnie know that you were in discomfort/wanted to move up to F/were distinguished from other pax?
Why is it pro-NW threads get 6 replies when anti-NW threads get 50  Laugh out loud

FAs know that the last row(s) in a DC-9 is noisy.
After all, those rows are very close to the aft galley and doors where their own seats are...

Who cares if it was just to be nice (which is very nice) or for aircraft ballance?
She could have given them other seats while retaining economy service which is what I'd expect from an airline to do, instead she went the extra mile to give them full 1st class service which would normally require a paid upgrade.

I wish I were flying

Anti-anything always gets more people like to vent more than praise(typical in life and yes I was doing a little NW venting myself  Smile )
If you do write NW a letter praising her they will write you a nice person response, makes you feel valuable to NW
There are great employees at NW, but the gate agents need a more "we appreciate you" attitude, I don't mind if I can't always get my way (hey the flight isn't always overbooked when you could really use some cash) but at least answer my question  Smile
Good job bonnie keep it up and love live the DC-9
AUS-MSP usually gets some great flight attendents must be a good bid

I wanted to respond in the other thread, but I'll do it here:

In 34 segments on NW since November I've had nothing but good service in both F and Y, on time departures and a great overall experience. Only 1 of those flights were delayed, and it was due to a snowstorm. All in all, NW is very good.

I flew NW back in 7/00 from PHL-DTW-SEA-MSP-PHL for the first time and I thought that they were an excellent airline, very good service and on-time departures and arrivals. I flew on a DC9-50, DC-10-30, and a DC9-30 and for older aircraft they were maintained very well and were comfortable. I was impressed. I'd fly NW again in a heartbeat. Just my .02

You should write a trip report. Do you have any pictures?

I've had a fair number of good experiences on NW myself. Once my family was going to have to be split up because of the seating arrangements, but the FA got us the bulkhead seats! It was a nice ride after that. I've never experienced a nasty FA on any comercial flight, regardless of the airline. I think that FA's in general are good people.
