Was watching planes (and eating Mc.Donalds...) at LHR this evening and did see a red helicopter with loads of guys pointing their telescopes / cameras at it probably around 7.45-8.15 pm. Don't know if that was the one mentioned but also noticed it because it came low from the north and then instead of getting clearance and crossing right over I think it kinda turned to the west?
I guess that's all I know. There were LOADS of people watching planes at LHR this evening though. The weather was good

I did notice a runway change around this time, as I saw an aircraft (think it was Swiss) abort and go around just after an LH landing. I seem to recall the LH Aircraft wasnt the usual A320.
So far in 2008 45 flights and Gold already. JFK, IAD, LGA, SIN, HKG, NRT, AKL, PPT, LAX still to book ! Home Airport LCY

The pilot reported smoke in the cockpit when he declared the emergency. However he later changed his miond and said that there was no smoke, just a strange smell. Better to be safe than sorry though!
