Does anybody know when Alaska Airlines will be retiring there Boeing 737-200's. Alaska Airlines only uses there 737-200's on there inner-Alaska routes. Alaska Airlines has the 737-400, 737-700 and 737-900 on order so I would think they would replace the 737-200 with more 737-400's. But I know that they use the 737-200 for Cargo aircraft too. So does anybody know if Alaska Airlines will retire there 737-200's. (I think they have 8 737-200's) Alaska Airline does have the youngest fleet of aircraft in the U.S with 737-400's and MD-80's.

Alaska Airlines is always voted the best airline in the U.S too and what is intresting about this is, it is a low-fare airline but still beats and is better than all the major airlines. Alaska Airlines is based in Seattle. Alaska Airlines regional airline Horizon Air was also named the "Best Regional Airline" in the county too. Alaska Airlines sure is a good airline.

I'd say they'll probaboly withdrawn from the fleet at the beginning of next decade now that the 700's and 900's are coming up. The 400's will be around for a while.

I have been on Alaska Airlines 737-200s twice, and both times we had mechanical problems. The first was on 8/3/94, N740AS. The flight was from Barrow to Fairbanks with a stop in Deadhorse. We developed a hydraulic leak in Deadhorse and they had to cancel the flight. They rebooked us on MarkAir. The second time was on 8/10/98, N745AS.
At Juneau, preparing for our flight to Anchorage, they discovered that they couldn't latch the forward cargo door properly. We were delayed for several hours while they fixed it. I have been on all of Alaska's other aircraft types and never had a problem.
