CO obviously has no -300ERs, and the article only mentions CO as the launch customer for 757 winglets. I see nothing else reagarding CO.

Boeing is still looking for a launch customer for the 767 winglets but that should be only a matter of weeks.

Most likely not like the 764ER! They are talking about the blended winglets a la 757, but I could be wrong.

Boeing is clearly targeting the 763 but some airlines (CO?) might be interested to have them on their 762s too.

This seems odd. The sooner an airline ditches their 767s, the sooner they buy the 7E7. I have no doubt Boeing would make more money selling an entire 7E7 than they would offering a 767 winglet package. Why breath life into a product you want customers to retire?

All I can think of is Boeing maybe wants to hold some 767 customers over, keeping early 7E7 slots open, and thus have some leverage in nabbing some not so easy to get orders?

Wonder if they're going to offer the RAKED wingtip on the 763ER, and perhaps the media's confused that with Blended Winglet??

The press releas was from Aviation Partners Boeing... so I wouldn't think the media would have confused it... unless it was a typo.

Boeing might want airlines to retire the 763 and purchase something new, but how many airlines are going to do just that? Like many have pointed out on here, AA took delivery of a couple of 763's in the past couple of years, so I'm sure they'll hang on to them for a while....

Boeing is courting airlines for the 767 winglets,
Including an airline that operates the 757 and the 767 and has ordered the 7E7. It's a long time until 2009...

Breathing life into an existing product, as well as holding-over airlines to stay with Boeing until the replacement enters service, will improve the 767's economics and long-term viability on the used market, and hence support Boeing.

Boeing needs the 767 to remain a viable product for years to come - hundreds of them sitting in Arizona because used A330s are available for a similar price but with more attractive operating economics won't do Boeing any favours.

Plus, not every 767 operator will rush out an buy the 7E7. Some will look to retain the 767 for some considerable time to come since they're still being built, blended winglets and the 777-style cabin retrofit will keep those operators who don't want to commit to a fleet of new aircraft happy.

Yeah, a long time until 2008 and an even longer time before the hundreds of 763/2 flying today are replaced by the 7E7 or an eventual 330NG. So there is definitely a market now for those blended winglets.

The 767 still has a long time ahead…

Hmm, I was wondering just last week if blended winglets would be offered for the 757/767.

Whichever aircraft and airline the press release is really about, I am sure that the winglets will look great.

CO's 762s are very young (<5 yrs old), so it will be a long time before they retire their 767 fleet. It could possibly be in their best interest to add winglets to their 762 fleet.
