I like the new paint job better on the 717 than the 737-700. Kinda growns on you.

cheers, Ralph

I think this livery ages this a/c. Makes it look more like a DC9 than it used too.

P.S. I know, NW has hundreds of them.... don't start.

I have to agree with NWA747-400 that this looks like a DC9 and not a 717. I loved the old paint scheme, but I guess that over time, I could get used to that blue/red combo and the fact that they have to be tacky and put their website address on the engine.

I don't like it, it looks just as bad as the 737...the paint on the nose makes it look like a duck  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Maybe the fact that I hate the 717 without the eyebrow windows adds to my disliking, it just doesn't look right.

I much prefer the good old tan + teal combo.

The eyebrows cost extra money, and that adds to the bottom line. Also I believe it is not a lot of B717's still on order, I think it is less than 10, although I could be wrong.

Yes, AFTER this frame, AirTran gets 10 more new 717s. Source: http://www.airlinerlist.com Another interesting thing, the registration N7071U was requested a year ago for this construction/line number in March 2003, but not taken up. Can anyone confirm if this aircraft was first planned to be the Executive Jet demonstration model and was that plan shelved due to lack of interest?

I still would've preferred that the teal 'swoosh' be positioned at the front of the tail fin as opposed to the rear. Although the posted angle shot does a good job of concealing it. The livery doesn't look as disjointed as it does on the 737; the location of the engines on the 717 help out somewhat. If the engines had to be blue, it least it's a darker shade. A lighter blue would've looked hideous and clashed more with the teal.

To Smcmac32msn,

I agree with you. YX's latest livery is one of the better new blue liveries I've seen to date. I also like the choice you made on selecting the 2nd YX 717 photo. BOS is my former-hometown airport.

PHLBOS - Thats one of my all-time favorite pics, plus it gave a good angle of how big those engine intakes really are. I figured I'd do a back/side shot and a nose shot.

I still don't like the blue engines, they should be teal.
And now that I see it from the front, the curvy line on the bottom makes the whole damn thing look like a tennis shoe, and an old one at that.
Even though I am not a fan of the "Euro White" look, I think that in this case if they did the following it would look better:

All White Fuselage
Same AirTran Titles on Fuselage
Tail the same (Teal) with Teal engines.

Bah!
