Maybe someone out there in the hive mind know the answer to this.

On my way to and from work I take De La Cruz blvd which borders SJC and gived a great view of the runways and plane side of the terminal.

The past few days I've spotted what I think is a AA 762. The last time I saw one was when AA had a SJC-CDG flight.

Here's what I know. On Saturday 7/17 I saw it parked at A14 or A15 at around 12:30 or 12:45 pm.

I saw it again this morning parked at the apron between Terminal A and Terminal C.

I'm pretty sure it's a 767 as it looks like a cigar and not the cigarette that a 57 looks like. It also does not have RR powerplants and look more like GE. It's also been ages since I've seen a Pratt powered ex-TWA 57 in SJC.

So, is this a new regurarly scheduled service going on? I hope so, it's good to see more widebodies at SJC. I've taken the SJC-AA), Japan">NRT 777 service several times but as they say, variety is the spice of life.

I taxied past it this morning. It was a -300, and if my eyes weren't deceiving me, it was rego N347**. But yes, definitely a 767 of the stretched variety.

Thanks for the confirmation CF-CPI.

On my drive home this evening things got even more stranger.

Parked at A1-C was from De La Cruz what looked like a AA T7. It's odd because AA129 departs at 12:45pm and AA128 arrives at 10:30am so it's unusual to see a T7 parked there in the early evening.

And according to AA's website 129 left on time today and AA 128 arrived on time. I also poked around the schedules and could not find a flight that would match. AA ended their SJC-TPE service awhile ago, same with their CDG service.

Hopefully someone can clear it up. I get antsy when I don't know what's going on at my home airport.

The second 777 was there pretty much all day. (My office is at De la Cruz and Central). I was wondering what it was doing as well. Perhaps they are doing a non-standard rotation?

The 767 is N347AA, there for an engine change, this was the ORDHNL that diverted there the other day. The 777 has a cracked winshield inbound from NRT, it will ferry to DFW at 2300.

I too saw it parked there this morning when I dropped my aunt and uncle off at Terminal C.

AA777flyer, thanks for the info.

Is it unusual for a A/C to divert to SJC for a engine swap? Considering that as far as I know SJC does not have any maintenance hangar. Would it not be better to divert to SFO? Just wondering.

It's been nice to see so many heavies at SJC these past few days. A nice break from the unrelenting stream of 37s, MD80s, 57s, RJs, and 320s/319s.

Hopefully the airport and runway / taxiway upgrades they're doing will bring in more heavies.

The 763 is at gate A15 so I'm assuming that the engine swap has happened and it's off to DFW or something.

Hopefully they'll bring some 76ers back to SJC in the future.
