Dont blame the passengers for this mistake - thats like COKE blaming the customers for not buying their products. Basically the FL product offering didnt suit the TLH market.

I wonder if it would suit the passengers to pay twice as much to get to ATL?

I have to agree. You often see fares matched on routes like this, but if you don't fly airtran they'll pull out and the fares and frequencies will go back to normal.

I think they just have bigger fish to fry. The fleet has to be stretched with the removal of 10 RJs and it probably came down to a choice of where to get the jets. I'd much rather see DFW-LAX or DFW-LAS than ATL-TLH if you had to choose one or the other.

Well,
I doubt many people flying out of TLH are just going to ATL....Id gather a majority are bound for points beyond ATL....probably some cities that AirTran didnt serve. You always have to consider that Delta with their frequent flyer program was a factor in keeping travellers from migrating to AirTran. I am not saying that AirTran is bad, I just think that Delta could afford to match a lots of the fares (altho not sure how due to their financial situation) and offer many more destinations.
Good maybe this will allow AirTran to free up aircraft where they can use them and MAKE money, not waste it. No use in beating a dead dog....
As first said..Use it or lose it....

Simply put, there are probably more profitable routes to serve and better aircraft utilization. It's a business..

From what I've been hearing, MCO is booming this year. I don't know when the high season down there ends, but adding a couple more ATL-MCO, DFW-MCO, or BWI-MCO might make more money than anything.

It still sucks overall for TLH. DL will stick it to TLH like they've done before.
Ah, Summer, Fenway Park, Boston Red Sox and Beer.....

The prob with FL in TLH was not the travelers, but what FL offered. DL has daily non-stops to PBI and FLL from TLH, without having the incovenience of going north to Atlanta for about an hour, wait an hour for the connecting flight, then another, say, hour and a half to go to MIA/FLL. Even when flying via ATL to MIA/FLL/PBI on DL the flight from ATL to TLH was a breeze, 'cause of the 738s. Too bad that of course DL will increase the $$$. But anyway, I never liked FL. Those CRJs are too damned cramped (I know DLs are too, but they send a lot of 738s). Plus the first time I was flying FL on the TLH-TPA-MIA route, the A/C broke down. They had us for about TWO friggin' hours in the A/C, then they told us to go on DL, and of course, DL were like WTF? Finally we left and got to MIA THIRTEEN hours delayed. We got a voucher for a free roundtrip, which was a nightmare to get because the CSA just gave the vouchers out without actually making a note in the computer or wherever it is you have to record that you gave a voucher. Finally got my free flight, which was, btw, delayed too!
