Some weeks back it was rumoured here that Virgin Atlantic's A340-300s would be getting the Suites installed and staying for another few years. Here is the confirmation:

It was pretty much "confirmed" on some of the Virgin forums awhile ago, but thanks.
Is the company that made the old UC seats still making the bars?

HEy
i hope VS aproves there coach class becuasae the PTVs are about the size of a Nokia cell phone screen. I do like the VS 343s but i would prefer they replace them with the 346s or even the 345s.

As there are only 5 A343's being re-fitted, it confirms previous threads that the 4 x Arcadia A343's will be leaving the fleet.
This will leave the odyssey config'd A343's with the Suites.
Will be interesting to see how many suites they can fit in the A343, as it is a rather small J cabin (in length) compared to the A346 - and is also split in half.

Intersting - if VS is making this investment in atleast 5 of the A343s, I guess that is confirmation that VS will retain at least a small number of A343s in their fleet to operate "thin" and new routes.

Looking at the seat maps on V-Flyer, the 346 with suites has 48 in Upper Class, compared with 50 Upper Class seats on the non-346s.
Installations will begin in the summer of 2005, so do not get your hopes up that high.

Umm, no it doesn't, it has 45. The LHR 744's have 44.
I knew 48 was a strange number. I guess that I was getting a bit dizzy on V-Flyer.

Hi
The A343s will have the config J34 W36 Y171 according to our latest suite service literature released last week. So 6 less in J, 8 more in W and 16 less in Y due to more premium.

Nice to see the VS 343s sticking around for a while
ITK, could you possibly drop me an e-mail please? I'd love to have a chat to you about a flying career looking after the self-loading cargo! My address is in my profile.

Sorry, I had to say this, but it should be "VS improves their".
Also, IFE, while a luxury and slowly becoming standard, is still a luxury, so do enjoy it.

I know this thread is mainly about the Suites, but Im due on an A343 next month from LHR-EWR in Economy, and - well I'm a little worried. Is it as bad as it sounds back there?
Any help would be appreciated,
