RJ's Long Shot

Many people agree that a RJ flight longer than an hour is simply unbearable. With that said, what is the longest RJ flight that any of you know about? I found an America West Express CRJ operating PHX-MEM... WOW Laugh out loud

Milwaukee, Seattle, Los Angeles :-D

Not THE longest.. but definitely in the top 5 RJ long haul flights.. RDU-DEN.. 4 hrs exactly on a CRJ700...

As far as I know, these are the top 5 in the US right now:

1) AUS-SFO - Mesa (United Express)
2) DFW-OAK - ASA (Delta Connection)
3) IAH-BFL - ExpressJet (Continental Express)
4) RDU-DEN - Mesa (United Express)
5) DFW-JFK - ASA (Delta Connection)

Note: IAH-BOI will move into the #2 spot when ExpressJet starts that one.

First, if these routes were done on a EMB170/EMB190.. would they be considered RJ routes as they are not, in fact, RJ? Secondly, would it be as bad if on the 170/190?

Oddly enough, Comair Flight 5832 from MIA to CVG also clocks in at 2 hours and 51 minutes. At least it's on a CRJ-700 instead of a -200! Smile

I can't see that a CRJ700 would offer any substantial space benefit over the CRJ200.....the ergonomics of the individual seat enviroment remains the same. Its only longer, thats all.

From what I've read here, the CRJ-200 is the most uncomfortable aircraft ever made, and the -700 is slightly better.

LOL! My sister had to fly that PHX-MEM flight TWICE! She flew first class, and even then, she was ready to tear open the fuselage and crawl out. LOL! I think those should not be used on flights over 45 minutes! I have flown them for hops up to 45 minutes and I have no problem, but I can see it becoming insanely uncomfortable for flights up to 2 hours! Big thumbs up

I personally feel that a RJ up to 2 hours is acceptable.. after 2:01.. that is when the gloves come off, the shoes start flying.. and the lips start smacking!

I've only done DL5710, 5711, 5712 and 5713 (my local airport BGM to CVG) for company business (Comair). I have found it to be a pretty decent flight (although only about an hour and 20 minutes). Its especially nice on one of the 40 seaters as you get that little extra bit of legroom (especially in 3A-D as there is no rows 1 or 2). However I don't find these flights any more cramped than a BA longhaul flight from NY-London in economy, based on my personal experiences anyway. I flew an American Eagle flight on an EMB RJ, and OMG, you want to talk about cramped. haha.

I wouldn't say anything over an hour is unbearable. I'd say over 2 hours is unbearable, over 1.5 is not prefered, and between 45 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes is perfect. The CR7 might be a bit different, though. Maybe 1-2 hours is fine.

Crw has a fairly long one. CRW-IAH. he difference here is that this is on what i call the baby rj. The erj-135. and no meal! The flight time is 2:55 mins
