Northwest Airlines today announced new nonstop jet service between its hub at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and Casper, Wyo. Two daily flights will be offered beginning Oct. 4. The new service will be operated by Pinnacle, using the CRJ.
NW has announced 11 new destinations this year from MSP, for a total of 166 N/S destinations.

What does Casper have event or interest point there? Are they popular Rodeo or else out there? Who anybody want to go to Casper from MSP and connect flights from East and Midwest? That's a small town! Good luck NWA to have enough loads to CPR.

Its the doorway to Yellowstone National Park. UA announced seasonal summer service there for the summer with two daily flights the service proved SO popular that they are up to 5 daily flights and year round service making UA the largest operator out of CPR. UA is making a killing there I wouldn't be shocked if they were up to rj's there by next year!

The community put up millions in guarantees. They are desperate for jet service. I believe this will be a success based on the support the community has put up. NW brought in a CRJ for the news conference yesterday.

Ive been looking at flying thereabouts in late Sep. for the last few weeks. Its very hard to fly into the general area of Yellowstone for a reasonable fare - UAL sure are making a killing to Cody, WY and NW flights to all points in Montana are very pricey, no-lease-payment DC-9s or not! AA only do ORD-Jackson Hole in Winter so the closest i could get was Billings, Montana via LAS or PHX with HP for the end of September which is indirect from BOS but oh well...il just have to drive!

I've never been to CPR, but this might just make me want to go. Years ago I needed to go to DEN and drove via Cheyenne to get there just to be able to enter Wyoming. I liked it a lot, but could have done without that Looooong trip through Nebraska on I-80. Thanks, NW!

Does anyone know why co pulled out of Jackson hole? I was there last year and there were a lot of people in Jackson hole and the Yellowstone area during the summer. Hopefully co will go back to jac.

I wonder how Casper Airport came to be an international airport?

Customs are available there for a fee, making it a int'l. airport even though there are no scheldued int'l. operations. Maybe customs come up from DEN if there's a intl. flight arriving?

Im still kinda in shock about it, i also remember seeing that if Casper works out other cities or towns whichever you prefer could be added, like Cheyenne. I have been to Casper and never want to go back, but if they can make money doing it i am all for it.
