Ok, so the approach / departure pattern is turned around today which means I get to watch all inbound SJC aircraft out my office window.

An AA 763 just flew by at 11:03AM. Is this another HNL-ORD diversion?

Hopefully I'm not boring folks with my constant posts about odd happenings at SJC but, the last 2 weeks have been very unusual for AA at SJC. In 2 weeks we've had:

1 777 diverted NRT-DFW (cracked windshield)
1 763 diverted HNL-ORD (engine trouble)
1 777 diverted SJC-NRT (turned around, med emer)

and now todays 763.

I'm really enjoying seeing more widebodies at SJC but, they're not scheduled. Furthermore if they are MX issues, SJC has no MX base to speak of so why divert to SJC and not say SFO?

that was AA 287 JFK-SJC. It normally is a 757 but was switched to a 763 today as orig equipment was out of service. It will operate back as AA 288.
Lucky equipment change!

ah...the equipent change! Lucky, indeed. I remember an equipment change in 2000 SJU-ATL on DL...it was an L10-11...Ok, I thought, they have 3 types of L1011s...what a suprise when a 763 pulled up! call me a FLL snob, but I get enough 763s that the 767 series is very boring to me now!

Now that I finally got my membership paid again...

Its been exciting hearing about all these heavies here..too bad i've missed out seeing them  Sad

Now all we need is a 744 divert here and i'll really be excited!

BTW...I heard on the radio the other day about an AA M80 that returned due to possible engine fire in #1 engine...anyone else hear the same?

I think SJC can only accomidate a 744 in EXTEREME emergencies as the taxiways are not wide enough.

In fact they barely seem big enough for a 777, the engines are off the taxiway in the weeds. But, they are making improvements as we speak.

Yeah, Its a wonder how the 777 taxis sometimes. It would be nice to see some other airline widebodies as well Come on Delta, if you can fly ATL to PBI in a 67 why not ATL SJC?

I also miss seeing the UA 757's, we used to get them all the time. Oh well.

Where is your office at? Sounds like you have a great view!

Oh yes, you have a nice view! It really must be cool when they are doing 12 approaches following Lafayette!

Indeed, when doing 12 approaches they glide by my window which faces west.

But, when departures are from 30 they're too high by the time they fly by my window.

living in south florida makes 767's kind of boring. i'm dying for the day that a 777 flies in in place of a 767. i love when AA MIA diversions come in and i see A310's. every once in a while CO's 757-300's are substituted with 767-400's. only someone who loves aviation as much as we all do can appreciate the feeling that brings.

I work for Jeppesen. We just moved from Los Gatos to the 15th floor in downtown SJ (west santa clara st) My office window looks right down the taxi way. And when they land to the north, the a/c goes past our windows.

I got to see these heavy a/c, wondered what was going on.

Doggone, there's a lot of us right near SJC. I'm at De La Cruz and Central, so we're getting the approach views this morning.

to all the SJC spotters....

Haven't been to SJC since the early-90s during my SJSU days. Central, Santa Clara, Dela Cruz......I have been away for too long, I have completely forgotten the layout of the streets in the Downtown and airport areas.

I used to ride from the main campus out to the SJSU airport campus through downtown and then down Coleman avenue OR up First Street then over on Taylor to Coleman.

How is the Hwy87 project coming along? The artist renderings on the Hwy87 website aren't very good. I wish there were some real photos of what Hwy 87 looks like nowadays.

87 Is freeway all the way now complete with its own exit to the airport now. there are still some areas they are working on, but no more lights though downtown. They are supposed to be breaking ground of have done already on the new terminal at SJC.
