Hey everyone, just got back from my first trip to SXM, and what a trip! I was just starting this forum to see if anyone had some great SXM stories, or if you guys just wanted to share a memorable experience from Maho Beach. The best part of my trip was when I held on to the fence as a 757 was taking off, and blasted my shirt up over my head (as well as my hat), and I had to go after and chase them. And of course, the most exciting part came with the arrival of the KLM 747-400 (no Air France that day). It was an overall great day, and I really enjoyed the Sunset Beach Bar. Look forward to going back there!

PS; Could anyone fill me in on the Air France fence-clipping incident that happened a while back? Any pictures?

This probably isn't the photo you're looking for, but it's the most popular on airliners.net!

Hey, I got back from SXM last week. I stayed for 4 days. It was amazing...fortunetly, I was able to see the AF 343 everyday. I also gripped the fence with the 757 take offs, 747, A320, A343. It was amazing.

Were you there July 27th? That's the one day that I was there; tried to find some a.neters, but couldn't find any. Found a pilot, his wife (FA), some FAA guys, and some people who got lost. I gripped the fence a couple of times, but missed the 747 take-off. The landing was spectacular.

I was hoping to go there next January. I can save around $1000CND leaving from Seattle instead of YVR. Are there any sites that can offer me All-Inclusive packages to either SXM or preferably St. Barths?

Thanks.

Yes there are; I'd try US Airways Vacation packages to SXM. I was looking for a Christmas time package for two, and I think the total (from CLT) cost about $3000. That includes hotel (all-inclusive), flight, and transfer. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll find something, but not out of YVR unless they've opened up codeshare for their vacation packages.

I left SXM on the 26th. I also wanted to see some A.netters, but didn't find many interesting people. I was the expert of all the people that I met and I certainly don't consider myself an expert.
