Sounds like more expansion to try to keep NW from adding more nonstops.
New seasonal nonstop service from Indianapolis to St. Thomas and direct service to San Juan will be effective December 18, 2004. The service will operate Saturday only, nonstop to St. Thomas and one-stop to San Juan. Return service is nonstop from San Juan and one-stop from St. Thomas.
Effective November 20, 2004, ATA will provide the following nonstop service additions:
-- Ft. Lauderdale service will increase from one to two daily round-
trips;
-- Orlando service will increase from two to three daily round-trips;
-- St. Petersburg/Tampa service will increase from two to three daily
round-trips; and
-- Ft. Myers service will increase from seven to 14 weekly round-trips

Just to be clear, the emphasis above was added by Iowaman, not included in the original press release.

Yes, I did that so people don't get confused with 14 daily when it's actually weekly and so that way people notice it's Saturday only.

Why would ATA not launch a flight like this from LGA? Saturday only would do well. The LGA-SFO-HNL is always 90-99% full. LGA begs for more non-stops other than IND and MDW. Someone tell those people that we want to fly ATA without going to MDW already. We had the PIE flight which was great but of course the cancel it when I was most looking forward to having that option this winter. Even if they did a LGA-PIE-LAS or LGA-MIA or LGA-POS on Saturday something. I know the planes sit around on Saturdays, why would they not fly them? Adding Saturday service from IND-STT is no big deal. It is seasonal and once weekly that is like 16 or so flights over the period, big whoppie! No wonder they are in the trouble they are in, poor decisions.
