The New Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in Guangzhou, China is scheduled to open on Aug 5 at 00:00 (Beijing Time, GMT+8). The old CAN in downtown Guangzhou will become history at 23:00 Aug 4, Beijing Time. There will be 43 flights made from the old CAN to the new CAN, with no freight or pax allowed from 09:00 to 24:00 on Aug 4; First scheduled flight out of the new CAN is reported to be a Guangzhou-Haikou by CZ.
The new airport has been reported to be the most modern airport in China, with 2 runways built at opening, with another one in future. It can now handle 25 mil pax anually, 80 mil in future.
