Ok so here is an interesting topic.

What is the square mileage of some of the larger airports. I'm amazed at the size of some of them, butit would be neat to know the exact numbers.

One thing I know is that LGA can fit within the midfield area of JFK, which is pretty cool, so JFK must be pretty big.

DIA is 53 square miles, or 34,000 acres to be precise. It is the largest airport, in terms of area, in the world. No, Dubai does not beat it, nor any other large ones.

We usually measure either in terms of acreage, or square miles, so some calculating is required. BTW, 640 acres = 1 square mile. With that in mind, some of the numbers that I am somewhat familiar with:

DIA has 53 square miles, or 33,920 acres.
DFW has 26.6 square miles, or 17,000 acres. I may be confusing DFW with MCO, I'll have to do some digging.
CLK's island is about 4.82 square miles.
By comparison, my little old airport has about 2 1/3 square miles, or 1,500 acres. I vaguely recall that LGA has something like 800-900 acres.

OK, direct from DFW's page:http://www.dfwairport.com:
"The Airport covers more than 29.8 square miles; real property consists of 18,076 acres (7,318 hectares)."

And from MCO's page http://www.orlandoairports.net:/goaa/fact_sheet.pdf:
MCO has a total of 14,672 acres, or roughly 22.9 square miles.

I couldn't find a list of airport acreages compared anywhere, so I random-walked the web for a while compiling areas. Some of these are from the airports themselves; others are from history, travel or city development sources and may be imprecise or incorrect. I used a quick and dirty 2.6 acres per hectare conversion factor, and was not careful about significant figures.
The selection of airports is based more on what I could find and what I thought to look for than the relative importance of any given city, so please add to this thread if I skipped your favorite airport.

Incorrect. The official area of the land upon which the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh is 225 square kilometres, or 55,040 acres.
