Is it me, or have there been more and more flights out of IAD lately? It seems that a few months ago there were 2 or 3 major banks of arrivals and departures...now they seem spread out through the day. Any thoughts?

Well, doesn't IndyAir have about 300 daily departures now, since we're in August. . .it's what they promised in their ad campaign anyhow. I don't really know about the other airlines stepping up their # of flights, though.

there certainly are more flights in and out of IAD, almost exclusively due to the fact that IAir is starting up their own routes and UA is backfilling with new express carriers for the void left by ACA. that and the fact that UA/UAX has added and is adding new and/or additional service.
i was there yesterday at around 6 pm and it was as busy as i've seen it in a while. the reconstruction of rwy 12-30 cant be completed soon enough.

Another reason you may notice more flights is Ted. I don't think United ever ran 5 dailies to MCO or 4 to TPA. Second, I noticed that Delta/Delta Connection now has hourly service between IAD and ATL. That's to match I-Air's frequencies. The only other time they did that was post-9/11 when DCA was shut down.
