It probably is the hub for Airborne Express/DHL. It's in Wilmington, OH.

Yes, they operate what must be the largest private airport in the country, if not the world, at Wilmington, OH. Quite unique!

Airborne Airpark is ILN. It's the home of Airborne Express, of course!

Identifier ILG. The combined Airborne/DHL has decided to consolidate operations there from CVG. A huge operation - though not on par with FX at MEM.

Airborne Airpark is ILN, not ILG. ILG is Newcastle/Wilmington Deleware.

ILN is as you state the home of Airborne Express/DHL, consists of 2 parallel runways and as of last I heard CAT II equipped.

N766UA,
Thanks for the course correction. Missed approach to the "N" key.

The place is huge......the whole complex I believe is called Airborne Airpark and houses many different buildings. I work for FedEx and we have a semi-trailer full of deliveries everyday to the airpark. Check out http://www.abxair.com for more info!

The airport was originally called Clinton County Air Force Base and is the only airport that I know of that is operated by an aircarrier.
During the Vietnam War, the AC-47 Spooky Gunship was developed there as an adjunct to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The airport was also used by the Ohio Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve with KC-97's and C-119's.
After it closed as a military base, it was used by Overseas National Airlines as their primary base, next came the Ohio Air Center, and then Airborne Express (now ABX Air).
The original main hangar was a great place to work in cold weather as the floor was heated by warm water lines so you didn't get chilled up from your feet like a lot of cold weather hangars I've been in.

I work for PC Connection, which has its main distribution hub at this airport. I work at the HQ in New Hampshire, but would love someday to visit this hub.

ChrisNH....

We at FedEx here in Ohio love PCConnection. As I mentioned earlier we have a whole semi deliver everyday to PCConnection, Zones, and Cyberian Outpost don at the airport. We have one guy that is responsible for scanning, stacking, and shrink wrapping the shipments for the semi. Let me tell you that job sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
