ACA Dojets To Skyways

When or I should say "if" Skyways picks up all of ACA's Do328Jets will they become a Delta Connection carrier as well? It seems to be a lot of Dojets just for Midwest airlines to handle.

Yes. From what I hear, Delta will assume the leases on the DoJets, and provide them to Skyway to operate Delta Connection service.

actually of the thirty 328 jets tha Delta has, look for YX to use 10 of them for themselves, and 20 for DL operations

If Delta is paying the leases I doubt they will let YX use them for themselves. I am sure they all will continue flying for Delta.

Actually, I think DL will sell some of them to SkyWay, so that SkyWay can use them for the Midwest Connection.

I would not be surprised if DL inherited the leases, then sub-leased the 10 to SkyWay and make a buck on it  Smile

B4real,

According to many here, if DL breaks the contract with ACA which they are doing because of the pilot union and Independence Air being considered whatever the contract considers it DL has to assume the leases on the FRJ's.

Yep this has been known for some time now. Last I heard Skyway was supposed to take over operations as of November 1st. Frankly, Skyway can barely handle their Beech/328Jet flying right now.....so I'm not sure how this will work out in the future. Anybody want a job at CVG??? No thanks I'll pass.

EDIT: Delta did break the contract....hence Skyway assuming the DoJet operation out of CVG. BTW....good to see you again TechRep!!!

Snyc: I agree, the scope clause for DL pilots, I believe limits affiliated carriers for such situations to not operate aircraft with 71 or more seats. Codesharing w/ CO, NW, AF,... is special.

But once DH (indy) operates the A319, the company would be inviolation of the scope clause.

So, getting SkyWay on board as a DL Connection carrier makes sense. But, who is to say DL can't make a buck on the DoJos - especially if they don't need all 32.

B4real, I agree.

Ushermittwoch, I've noticed that the FRJ has been slowly taken out of the SBN (South Bend, IN) schedules to be completely removed by Oct/Nov replaced by Comair, they've also added 2 daily CR7's on top of the CRJ's that will replace the FRJ's, I'm not sure about other routes. I believe they've also added another flight or two from ATL to add the the 3 already.

Wasn't DL management quoted as saying they were not impressed with the 328Jet's reliability problems? Why would they be interested in SkyWay operating them as DLX?

Also, why would YX do DL any favors with DL's partner NW busting their hump in MKE? Could something bigger be afoot?

A lot of questions to be sure regarding this development....

They probably can't get rid of the leases on the aircraft without very high costs, the termination fees alone probably make it worth it, plus they need the aircraft right now.

SkyWay is the only other North American operator of the FRJ, so they are an obvious choice, and no matter who it is as long as it brings in money what do/should they care?

I looked at CVG skeds into NOvermber and many of the DO328 routes have been changed to ERJ from Chautauqua...So the rumor of YXConnect using some of them could be true.
If DL goes into bankruptcy, will that no change the scope of this entire transaction.. READ -"go to hell ACA! (and your silly little leases ,too!)

We are getting 10 of them on 01Nov when we take over for ACA out of CVG. With further arrivals as the contract and routes grow. We will take over the majority of the routes at the end of the ACA contract. But as of right now there are no plans by DL to operate them to other DLC partners. Considering there would be a greater expense to train the crews on an additional a/c type than to all ready provide them to a carrier that is currently operating the type and has the staffing to handle the a/c.

Yep....it seems AirTran737 has some correct info on Skyway operating 10 DoJets for ther own ops. Not sure yet whether they will open up new stations or eliminate some Beech flying. There's also speculation they might 'wet lease' crews to operate the Delta Connection flying. We'll see.....

sorry about a double post, But what do they plan to do with the 328 jets on the CRW-CVG route? It seems too short to be economical for an embraer, Though it did used to be a CRJ-100.

They cut way back on CVG service in CRW, And loads were fine. went from daily 4 328j's and 1 crj to 4 328j's mon.tue.wed. and 3 on thurs, and i think 2 on fri and sat.

I was out with the new CVG chief pilot from Skyway, and the ALPA MEC Chairman the other night for some dinner. Bill Huffman who is the new chief pilot started his career with Skyway, then went to DL as a flight engineer on the 727. He then move to being an FO on the MD-80. After 9-11 he was furloughed, and went to Sunking on the 727. Now he's back at Skyway, and was taking his oral for the 328 Jet yesterday morning. He seems to have a very straight forward way of thinking, which will be good for the pilots that he is overseeing.
