Taking a trip to LIM this fall departing AUS. Saw only AA operates 757 to LIM, is that correct? If so, I would be flying 1st class. Is the 1st class seats in a AA 757 nice? Would never fly Y class in a 757! haha, if you got a pic of the seats, post please.

Only flying AA because my CFI is an AA senior captain and I am on his "list" to fly 1st class always and super discounted fares. It's the only reason I don't frequent AF, BA, or LH 744s to see my folks across the pond. Would really love to fly a 744 soon.

Continental, by contrast, has BusinessFirst--with a 55 inch pitch--on the 757s it flies to LIM. So, if fares/mileage allow, you might be better off going with CO via IAH instead.
BF to Lima is history, sorry! About 6 to 8 months ago, CO reconfigured four 757s from international configuration to domestic configuration, and, at that point, the Lima flights (both EWR and IAH) lost their BF service. Logic was that the flights to Lima are not much longer in duration than US transcon flights, and CO picked up an extra 8 F class and an extra 3 Y class seats to sell on the flights. The only CO flights to South America that now feature BF service are those to Brazil operated with the 767.
AA does operate the 757 into Lima, and its F class accommodation and service on the 757 is really nothing special - but its certainly better than sitting in the back. I think (not sure) that AA markets the seats upfront on the 757 as Business Class (nor First) on flights to Latin America. I could be wrong.

757? Checking AA.com and Amadeus.net, you'll be taking an A300-600. Its listed on the timetable for the rest of the year. (I assume you'll be flying via MIA, I can't find any direct LAX-LIM/JFK-LIM flights on AA) And what's so bad about flying Y class in a 757? It's comfy enough for me...

that is exactly what I'm talking about. I am on my CFIs D3 list and get (99%) the best seat that is open. I am always the last to board the plane, and haven't ever been on AA 757 2 class seating. Use to 767 or 777. Not a huge fan of any 757 carrier.

People! He is flying on AA already. LA Does not even fly to AUS, or Texas for that matter. Flying AUS-DFW-MIA-BOG-LIM? So he can experience AV business class on one leg? You have got to be kidding me. If he had the choice to fly AUS-LIM, then either CO, or AA, would be the way to go. AA Did use their 762 from DFW-LIM. Although I don't know when that stopped.

EWR-LIM is a tad longer than a transcon. I flew MIA-LIM when UA had the route on a 757 and A-320, not too bad. Did MIA-LPB/VVI on AA which is about the same as MIA-LIM and it was fine. DFW-LIM would be, imho, a stretch, even in F (which is marketed as Business). The flight attendants, at least on MIA-LIM, are LIM-based and are very nice and service-oriented.
Did CO pull the BF out of the 757 that flew EWR-BOG-UIO, as well?

Got my ticket today!
Depart 10/19 AUS-JFK-LIM on AA 763.
Return 11/02 LIM-JFK-AUS on LAN 763.
AA does not fly JFK-LIM. You'll be on a LAN 763 both ways. Which is a good thing. LAN's service is considered one of the best in the airline industry. Also, being from Austin, you probably know this, but the AUS-LGA flight makes a stop in Houston (Hobby). Sounds like a fun trip, enjoy it!
