So how many B 747-300s and B 747-400s have been upgraded? Which ones are they? How many B 747-400s are equipped with first class seats?

It really took them a while and I believe they are still doing it.

All 744's have PTV's and about 13-14 now have skybeds. 22 744's are 3 class and 8 are 2 class.

VH-EBU is the only 743 in service that has not yet been upgraded, VH-EBV and EBW are due back in service soon after they have had the upgrades done and a D-check!

There are B 747 service from Sydney to Brisbane and not the other way round. How come? It would be a re-positioning flight. Instead of the return flight going back to Brisbane, it would go to SYD or MEL

Sorry I don't understand. There are 747 services from Sydney to Brisbane, but not Brisbane to Sydney (At least not that I know of.)

I think you are thinking of QF25/QF26.

SYD-BNE (repositioning basically)
BNE-AKL
AKL-LAX & vice versa.

There is also a codeshare flight with JAL which is QF3--? anyway, that flight goes BNE-SYD-Kansai, so you may have come across that one.

from SYD to BNE with B747 you have QF175,25,19 and 51 (QF97 is serviced by a 763), whilst for BNE to SYD you have QF20,26 and 52. All operate as revenue flights but as they operate from the International terminals they serve as feeder connecting flights / positioning. They can also be sold as domestic segments as well

The KIX flights (QF373/374 ops by JL) operate BNE to KIX via SYD but return non stop KIX to BNE. As such QF cannot sell ther domestic portion as a domestic flight.

The two 743's in storage are due to return in late AUG for BOM services and the second aircraft I hear conflicting reports of between SEP04' (reported in posts) and MAR 05' (Australian Aviation).

With regards to EBU (it is not scheduled as yet)

All 3 class refurbs (Skybed and other first class modifications) should be completed by MAR 2005 whilst 2 x class 744's should be completed by end 2005. (Latest update from QF Jul04'). Of course this schedule may change

Goodness, all 743's will be upgraded!

The 743's from SYD to BNE are part International flights so any aircraft is possible just depends on which is scheduled! Same with the SYD-BOM service once it starts!

Thanks ANstar, however the Qantas website does not give information on the proposed new Pacific Skybed Config, not does it provide information on which aircraft are currently at Avalon having their reconfig,s completed. Hope someone can help me with this. Regards

Qantas have 2 different configurations on their 3 class 744's, Pacific configured aircraft operate mainly to LAX and Kangaroo aircraft go to HKG and LHR mainly via SIN and BKK.

To put it in even more simplier terms.

The RR powered a/c do Europe/HKG/BKK and SIN and the GE powered machines do LAX/JFK and occasionally to HKG.

VH-OJF and OJG were both scheduled to be done very soon if not already as was OEG.

All of them I would imagine, EBU is the only one in service now that hasn't had the upgrade!

All the 743's fly the same routes EBU is no different, so SYD, BNE, AKL, HNL, MNL, NRT, SIN mainly plus some PER-SIN flights will have 743's in the Southern summer!

Usually placed on the AKL route (QF43/44). I have had this aircraft both times over the past three months. (well it has been the one with no PTV screens)

25 Post contains images ZK-NBT : Hasn't been to AKL very much lately though really though the 743's only come 3x weekly soon only 2. I personally haven't seen her for a few months.
26 United Airline : Maybe to Japan????? Doesn't seem that the SYD-NRT is very competitive. Who is doing better? JAL or QF? I mean on the SYD-NRT route. Which airline has
