Southern Winds' (A4) MD-11 deal is said to be back on now regardless of the airline's loss of the EZE-MEX route to AR. The 3 aircraft--2 due this month and the other later in the year--will be:

...among the last MD-11 (ER)s still in LX's fleet.

Meanwhile, the forecast for AR's B737-500 deliveries is as follows:

Nov. '04: F-GJNY
Dec. '04: F-GJNI
XXX. '04: N952UA
XXX. '04: N954UA
Jan. '05: F-GJNJ
Feb. '05: F-GJNZ
Mar. '05: F-GJNX
Apr. '05: F-GJNL
Jun. '05: N939UA
Jul. '05: N940UA
Aug. '05: N947UA
Sep. '05: N949UA
XXX. '05: F-GJNP
XXX. '05: N950UA

...all 14 are ex-AF and UA machines, of 1992-4 build. Many more will undoubtedly follow, as will the B737-300s.

Great to see that there are still airlines keeping the MD-11 in the skies! Where will they fly them?

Destruction leads to a very rough road but it also breeds creation

Wow.. UA is starting to toss away the -522s... What on earth will they fly between PHL and ORD?  Big grin

I wonder if the -300s that AR will be getting will come from UA also..

Caution wake turbulence, you are following a heavy jet.

Another development: AR's next B747-400 (ex-C-FCRA) will be registered LV-AXF and should arrive on August 24.

The -300s will also be from AF and UA. Not sure of the specific reasons as to why those airlines were chosen...

AU is also considering adding a further two MD-83s to their 3-strong fleet. The two aircraft being eyed-up are OH-LMR from Flying Finn and N824NK currently flying for Spirit in the US. These would be in addition to OH-LMS which entered service with the Argentine carrier as LV-ARF last month, possibly the oldest MD-83 on the planet!

As for AR's 6 A340-600s: Order postponed indefinitely. Real shame...  Crying
