As per the ZOOM web site, they will be launching YWG-LGW service effective Summer 2005.

Good news for YWG!

Maybe they will use their soon to be acquired Boeing 767-200ER on that route.

Jordan, the 767-200 will be used temporarily this winter season, and will be based on YUL. It will not be around in September 2005.

I would think there would be more of a demand for non-stop service or vacation packages to the Caribbean from Winterpeg than there would be for Heathrow.

GLAGAZ, Zoom's 762ER will be gone by next summer, but two, or perhaps even three 763ER's will join the fleet from KLM. Effectively, the operation will double in size, so that's good news for those of you looking to join a growing, and so far respected new airline in Canada!

This will mean that Zoom's permanent fleet will consist of aircraft from both Air France and KLM. I could think of much worse sources for used aircraft. Kudos to Zoom!

Actually it's LGW not LHR. YWG is the largest Cdn city without nonstop service to London so it's not surprising that Zoom is adding this next summer.

AC used to fly YWG-LHR with L15, CP YWG-AMS with D10/742, WD YWG-MAN/LHR with D10. I think Royal flew YWG-STN with the 313 a few years ago.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

This is excellent news. YWGers have been deprived of transatlantic service for several years now. Yes Neil, Royal did fly YWG-STN at one time with the 313. Zoom is adding more competition for mainly AC which is good for the airline industry in Canada.

This is great news for the City of Winnipeg and its surrounding area. I think the service will be a hit as long as its not a daily service. I can't see Winnipeg supporting those kind of loads but I think 2 times a week would fit right in. Winnipeg has been lobbying for this kind of service for 6 years now and we finally have it!

Expect a weekly YWG-LGW flight during the first summer season.

There is. Hence the several non-stop options to the Caribbean already in place during the winter months. There currently is no non-stop service to the UK.

YWG is the largest Cdn city without nonstop service to London

I believe that distinction goes to YEG, does it not?

YEG has seasonal service to LGW, but not year-round. This will be the case for YWG's new service. So until May 2005 YWG still retains the title of largest Cdn city without nonstop service to London.
