Allegiant will begin non-stop service between MSN and LAS starting Sept. 30, 2004...I know there are a few MSN fliers out there who are excited about service to their airport. I didn't see any posts, so I hope this helps.

Isn't that occurring right after Air Tran pulls out of that market?

Has been talked about before.

Can't find the thread though.
It got hijacked to a LAS-CRW service discussion, anyway.
 Big grin

Can't wait to see those birds when I head to MSN in December!

Where have all the tri-jets gone...

When does Allegiant start service between Charlevoix MI, and LAS?? It can't be TOO far off since Allegiant is flying to every other podunk town on the map.

Maybe they're better off serving smaller markets trying to create business and not having to get the crap beat out of them by other large carriers on the route trying to stamp them out. It remains to be seen if their research was good. How many other airlines though, crashed and burned after trying to go too many places too soon? Who does Allegiant's ground handling at the various airports? Some places they're only in and out once per day. Also is their charter fleet segregated or does it rotate in and out with the scheduled aircraft? I wish them well.

Allegiants ground handling is done by various groups. They have some stations where they have their own people, and they contract other airlines at some stations. And actually, Allegiant is growing slowly so I dont think they are trying to go to too many places too soon.

natch!!

How many MD80 are in the fleet now with Allegiant Air? Is that almost for 10 or 20 aircraft now?

There are currently 9 MD80's at Allegiant. They were expecting their 10th last month but it didnt pass the acceptance check from SAS. Now maybe in another week it'll be ready.

The story I have been given also is that Allegiant has 12 more aircraft coming from SAS. It should be an interesting year. JetMechMD80 will probably have heard some rumors about cities.

Another rumor I have heard is that Allegiant will change the MD-82/83s to 150 seats. Currently they have 162 seats. But I haven't confirmed the change yet.

Here is the old thread about Madison.
