LIT Is Officially Starting NW A319 Service!

Just found out yesterday that starting Oct 31, NW will launch A319 service to MEM. It will replace the DC-9 launch flight at 7:20 am (flight 970) and return as an overnighter (RON flight) at 715pm (flight 969).

Wonder what will happen to the DC-9? Scrapped??

Now if we can only get an A319/A320 to DTW. That flight is way too long in that CRJ!!

GulfstreamGuy: Haven't had the chance to write a trip report but LIT-DTW was okay...but for the first 45 minutes there was a baby crying and there is no way you can avoid that on a CRJ!!

EDIT: Is the LIT website reporting this? I'll have to book that flight to MEM when I go to OGG and HNL for spring break!

According to nwa.com it will only last until the end of November. It is probably just for the Clinton Library opening.

NW matches capacity with demand on every flight and makes frequent equipment changes.

You could see anything from a CRJ, ARJ, DC-9, A319. Remember the DC-9-50 and A319 seat the same number.

The DC-9 is just going somewhere else in the system. Its just how the aircraft routing model worked out.

We used to have DC-9-50 service but it switched over to DC-9-30 last winter.

We need all the mainline we can get.

Mainline at LIT:

DL: MD-80's, 732's
NW: DC-9, A319's!!!
WN: 737's of course!

They are being phased out so slowly that we cant even notice it unless we look in the World Traveler Magazine every month.

I think NW will take a very close look at Bombardier's C-Series. It is designed to be a DC-9 and "Classic" 737 replacement.
