Hi,

Drove past FLL today and saw an IL-76 parked near the tower...I think it was the Algerian AF one that pops in every now and then but couldn't tell for sure...anyone else know anything about it???

If it is white with a green cheatline it is Algerian AF. I have heard alot of people mention visits by this IL-76 but have yet to be lucky enough to see it. Someone has to have info on why it visits, as well as routing and departure info!!!

Apparently, according to This Forum, they bring in once a year but it seems to come in more often than that. I've seen it twice parked right by the tower, the last time being in January of this year. Still no clue as to what it does there.
Cheers

Sorry to bring up something of an old topic. It is there quite often, as well as another Russian made heavy jet, but with 4 props. Can't recall the name off the top of my head. Anyone who has info on when this bird will be there again such as date, arrival time, and departure time, I'd be extremely grateful.

As of yesterday it was still there. I didn't know what it was.
Here's the only pic I have of it (by accident). Can you spot it? http://www.myacc.net/~gxshiem/122_2292.JPG
I also have a video clip of it. Click here: http://www.myacc.net/~gxshiem/fll-nas.wmv
This was on my American Eagle flight (ATR-72) yesterday (the 21st of August) from FLL-NAS, seat 13A.

I'm sure you're talking about the Avialeasing An-12. The only russian 4-prop that's based in Florida although I've yet to see it in FLL. I don't believe they have a schedule, and it rarely goes to FLL. If you want, email me and I'll tell you when i'ts in OPF so you can go see it.

Which one do you want tied up? The Algerian IL-76TD or the Avialeasing An-12 that is based at Opa-locka? We need to know how much rope to buy, haha.

The IL-76 would be nice to shoot at FLL...any idea as to when it is leaving ?

The Avialeasing An-12 and An-26Bs are quite easy to shoot at OPF...here are shots taken from the fenceline in december.
