While I was down in SIN this past week I found out that SAS had increased their frequency on the CPH-BKK-SIN flights from 3 to 6 weekly again starting on Aug 18th.

Was this a sudden descision or had it been in the plans all along?  Confused
Just before I left for SIN on the 15th I don't believe the reservation system showed any flights going back on the 19th or 21st but when I went to visit the Singapore SAS office they told me there were more flights now!
Tho the availability was the usual = Forget it!  Laugh out loud

And what's going to happen to the Shanghai flights?
Weren't those the reason for cutting the BKK-SIN flights to 3 weekly?

Hello SK973.

I have heard that SAS will increase the flights to Shanghai from 3 to 6 weekly this autumn. The 2 daily flights between CPH-EWR will become 1 daily during the winter.

Wow! THis is great news.

I have always thought the loadfactors and their yield on the flights were so low on this route, and therefor SAS reduced it. CEO Lindegaard even talked about closing this route a couple of months ago.
I wonder what they are planning, since they have taken this sudden turn.
Byt anyway. Great SAS!! Now open the CPH-SFO route as well!!  Big grin

Edit: And ARN-SFO as well for our swedish friends. And for our Norwegian friends you could start OSL-MMA or OSL-CMB.

I love it that they're increasing their flights to asia but will cutting one EWR flight be sufficient to make both BKK-SIN and Shanghai 6 weekly?

Now if they could just add a daily ARN-SIN flight as well...  Big grin

Tjena SK973,

It would be great if they hade more flights bound for Asia from ARN. But do you think it will happen now when MAS will start flying to KUL from ARN?

One route I think would work would be ARN-BKK seeing how well it did when they operated it last winter!

I hope they will do good.
They have always had high loads and a high yield during the winther periods. You should consider yourself lucky if you could find a business seat on the BKK/SIN flights from mid november till the end of february.
Thailand is a very popular destination for us scandinavians. But during spring, Summer and fall the loadfactors are not very high unfortunatly. And it wonders me that they will have 6 flights pr week, when even CEO Lindegaard talked about cutting the route totally a couple of months ago.

It's so great to see SAS finally realized they had to offer high frequencies to Asia to attract customers.
SAS is so far behind Finnair!

QIguy24,

You would be lucky to find ANY seat on the BKK/SIN flights anytime of the year! Not just in the winter time...
Only a few times a year have I seen the flights with seats available between Copenhagen-Bangkok and v.v.

SK973,

Hmmm..... I wonder why they even talked about closing the route if it goes so good.
I have been selling alot of SK tickets here in Cimber and when I worked in a travel agency to Thailand. And I have never had any problems to get Q-classes and other economy classes during Spring, Summer and fall. But like I said earlier, It's impossible during the winther period.
