OK I know that some of these "what you would fly if you had your own airline questions are getting old" but I promise this one is a little different. I decided to put in a little twist. I should prevent this becoming one of those Boeing vs Airbus questions that is so common.

The premis is the same as most of the others. You have a airline that flys domesticly within your respective countries and has some short haul and long haul international flights. It also has a cargo subsidary. What type of equiptment would you chose to operate? You can pick a maxium of five different types of airplanes.

I know this doesn't look any different then the other fantasy airline questions put up but I haven't gotten to the twist. What is it? NO JET FUEL!!!! That right you can only pick piston prop airplanes. This also means that you are picking long haul equiptment from the late fifties.

My picks.

I would operate the folloing aircraft

Douglas DC-6. This aircraft can operate all-pax, combi or freighter. It's intercontiental and the R-2800 engines are less fussy then the corncobs on the DC-7 or the Connie.

Convair CV-440 This would be the workhorse of the domestic fleet. It also uses the R-2800

Curtiss C-46. This is the dedicated freighter. It has a bad rep as far as maintaince but Flying tigers used them successfully and they carry a good load (10 Tons)

As you noticed I tried to keep the same type of engines to aid in maintaince.

Hopefully you have more fun with this topic then with the jet airline questions that break down into the Airbus vs Boeing subjects.

OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

My 5 planes would be:

C-36s (anybody remember this one?)
DC-3s
DC-4s
DC-6s
L1049s

Don't have the time to explain anything right now.

If i owned an airline, it would be a major overseas airline, like British Airways. It would be also a small carrier like them. I would use the following aircraft:

Overseas:
Boeing 777
Boeing 747-400
Aerospatiale Concorde

Domestic/Short Haul of Minor Foreign Routes
Boeing 767-400ER
Boeing 757-300
Boeing 747-400
Boeing 777
