I just received my September American Express Sky Guide in the mail. Glancing through it, I notice a strange schedule for British Air Flight 202, which has been operating DTW-Heathrow daily using a B777...
550p 635a H BA 202 767 Dly 0 Ops 2 Sep 1-7 Ops X2 Sep 8-14 Ops 4567 Sep 15-21
605p 635a H BA 202 777 x2 0 Ops 2 Sep 8-14 Ops 123 Sep 15-21 Does not operate Sep 22-30
I sure hope this isn't a misprint...between Sept 1 thru 14, British Air is only going to operate their flight on Tuesday??? I wish I was at work with access to SABRE...
I checked all BA flights from London to cities in the US and Canada, and all are on normal schedules except this one.
What happens in October? Could Detroit lose it's only B777 flight? Please don't do it, BA
Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.....

I remember when BA had the 747 service that went via Montreal. Maybe they are going back for the 767 for the shoulder and low season, would make sense if you ask me.

I forgot what they had at DTW friday all I remember was it was in the Chelsea Rose paint scheme when we taxied over to Runway 21R after sitting on the tarmac for 1:20 due to weather in Ohio. I could have sworn that it had a wider tail than the 777 though, I was only half paying attention as we taxied by the Midfield Terminal

It looks to me as though ElectraBob's version and Carduelis's version are the same. Recalling that the Amex guide only covers the month of September,

calls out enough exceptions that the 767 flight is "Daily" for September 22 to 30 only and the 777 flight is "x2" for September 1 to 7 only!
The first week (Wed 1 to Tue 7), the 777 operates every day except Tuesday (September 7), which is when the 767 operates.
The second week (Wed 8 to Tue 14), the 767 operates every day except Tuesday (September 14), which is when the 777 operates.
The third week (Wed 15 to Tue 21), the 777 operates on Wednesday (15), Monday (20) and Tuesday (21), while the 767 operates on Thursday through Sunday (16-19).
The remainder of the month, the 767 operates.
I have to say, American Express made it as clear as mud, but at least it's consistent!

The Ryder Cups on between the 17th -19th with plenty of people coming and going before and after those dates, I booked my flights back in October last year the minute they became available online and I was positive I had my 6 day IP tickets. I raised a Thread a while back voicing a similar theme as I was upset to find my trip out on a 777 was now a 767, still cant complain just counting the days (14 days 4 hours) till take off.
Its put and extra 25 mins on the outbound flight with no PTV and gives me more opportunity to try out my new HDC451 NoiseGuard headphones( been spoiling myself).
Still that's my theory with the constant change in a/c during Sept.
Looking forward to my 1st US trip.
