Hey I was just wondering how many American airlines a300's are equipped with PTV's in coach class.
Thanks!

Exactly this is what I thought... but on a route I fly once a year JFK-AUA two years ago the aircraft was an A300 and it said right on the cabin a300 and I was too astonished that I had a PTV in coach class... I have been looking for over a year on information on it but I could not find it.. I remember it was the first ptv I had ever had and I loved watching the flight tracker... and I am absolutely positive it was an a300... then when I went back the next year I was hoping to get them again... but no luck it was just a regular a300

In AA's fleet, only the 777s have PTVs in economy.

Looking at Airliner Color History Airbus A-300 it shows a picture of the coach cabin of an AA A-300 with PTV's on page 51.

I don't get this... Does this mean I took a 777 to aua? I am almost am sure it was an a300... The trip is a while back so I don't suppose any one would be able to look up what type of aircraft it was but the date was Friday July 27th, 2001 . I think its the only flight that operates a day from jfk-aua . I know now the flight number is 679.. not sure if that's what it was back then.

Please elaborate on this.... is this a book you see this picture?? Is this possibly the aircraft I was in??

Some American A300s were fitted with PTVs in the late 1990s when they were configured with 3-class seating for use on BOS/JFK-LHR flights. As the 777 fleet grew, it took over from the A300 on the important Heathrow flights by 2002.

Once the A300s had been removed from trans-Atlantic routes they were returned to a standard 2-class configuration with the PTVs removed.

Ah so I guess I was lucky to get on an a300 with ptv's. It certainly helped the almost 5 hr flight jfk-aua go a little bit faster

Will the internationally configured 767s ever get PTVs?

If AA starts making money again, maybe. But right now I don't think they will.

American doesn't even have the new coach and first class seats on A300s. (the ones they ve installed on Super 80s)

Although I recently read somewhere (might be on A.net), that they were going to re-furnish the A300 somewhat.

They really do not need to install the new seats considering the A300s go on high-density routes where passengers coming back to your airline is not a top concern (unlike JFK-LHR, for example) as well as that the planes will be retired in a few years (despite any announcement from AA saying otherwise).

I too read that and I believe it was discussed here.
