Anyone know why Delta is switching their late departure from ATL-FLL to a 757 on December 1st? i've been on the flight three times over the last few months and that 763 hasw been filled to the gills and had to leave 20 stand by's behind. Any reasoning behind this?

I am not sure why, but a while back, the last flight of the day on the ATL-MCO route was a 757 - when it was usually all 767s and 777s - but went back to all 767s and 777s a little bit later.

My guess is that they are not anticipating high loads, or need a 767 for some other flight.

Recently the midnight area departures have been the same for the last few months.

MCO- M88
TPA- M88
FLL- 763
RSW- 757

But come December

MCO-763
TPA-763
FLL- 757
RSW- 763

So it looks like the other 3 main late flights from ATL-to the big Florida destinations will be upgraded and the FLL flight down graded.

ODD if you ask me.

Looks like seasonal demand causing the larger aircraft assignments.

Also that is the date DL starts all the non-stop flts to FLL. This means that less people will be going thru ATL since there are direct flts from out stations.

Good, I haven't figured out why they changed 763 flights to MD-88 from ATL-TPA. Seems like every flight between these cities is overbooked. Glad to see their bringing it back.
