The picture should have the caption "Air France finally implements an aircraft cleaning program."

According to Snopes, it apparently IS a real picture, although the usual explanation (careless worker left a cleaning system on) is not true.

Bohica is right. It is a fire supression deluge system. I've seen one work before. It filled a hangar with 8' of foam in about 5 minutes. Pretty impressive stuff.

What if you're stuck in there, outside a plane? You'd probably suffocate... Does anybody know what the foam instruction manual says about this?

well it definatly is a real picture....how do i know? I work at the fbo in which that happened at. right outside of boston to be a bit more precise. From what I heard it was set off by a contruction person or someo fixing somethign inside. usaully we have 45 seconds from the second th alarm is set to shut off the supression. the planes which were in there...i think a hawker and there was somethign else had to be fully cleaned inside and out because the doors were open during MX. pretty wild stuff huh?

Same thing happened many years ago to an Eastern L-1011. N313EA was in the hangar at Miami when the fire suppresion system was accidentally activated. The aircraft was badly flooded by the foam and water. For the remainder of Ship 313's life with Eastern, she was (less than lovingly) referred to as the Hangar Queen. After the soaking incident, that particular L-1011 had a battery of troubling mtce. problems, and therefore it seemed to spend more time in the hangar than in the air.

Got time to spare? Go by air!!

wow that's funny. mabye a fire truck spewed the foam into the hangar. mabye a college prank, or someone was drunk at the wheel.
