US Airways took delivery of its first aircraft painted in the Star Alliance livery, a 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700. Bombardier’s production line schedule allowed for the earliest possible introduction of a US Airways aircraft painted with the Star livery scheme.

The Star Alliance 700 has been at DAY for the last 4 or 5 days. I think it may have gone on revenue flights today.

This is pretty cool! I've flown about 6 segments on US this summer, mostly in and out of PHL, and I've noticed that the Star Alliance stickers they put on the planes at the beginning of the summer are almost all shredded. I hope that we can see some of the bigger birds in the Star livery soon.

Yesterday, two mainline US Airways aircraft were ferried to get painted in the Star Alliance livery.

N623AU, a B757-2B7, was ferried CLT-ARA.

N700UW, an A319-112, was ferried PIT-ROW. N700UW was US Airways' first Airbus aircraft. (Unfortunately, it's also a bit infamous for being the first plane to have its heavy maintenance done at MOB.)

Any photos yet of the CRJ-200 or CRJ-700 in Star Alliance livery? One of them has been in service over a week now...

Any plans to put a 767 or A330 in the Star colors?

US is really pushing it's new service from BOS to the caribeen. I wonder if any of the new Star Alliance aircraft will make their way here.

Why does US airways still take a/c? Why not take delivery of them and then just give them off to another airline? I understand that this isn't US airways themselves (airline such as Mesa) but don't they still have a few airbus a/c still waiting to be delivered to them? And who pays to get the a/c painted? The Star Alliance group or the airline themselves?

Thanks for any help!

THIRTEEN aircraft in the Star livery? Either US hates their own livery, or they are very proud to be a Star member. I mean, UA only has one 767 and they have a much larger fleet. In fact, most Star airlines only have one, some two.

It's nice to see US Air in Star Alliance livery. Although IMO the STAR ALLIANCE letters look better on larger aircraft. Bombardiers just don't have the appeal for it.

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

Maybe they just like to have cooler planes. I would imagine their dark color can heat up the inside of the aircraft.

Few requests if someone can either add to this thread or start another:

1. Show the routing for N708PS, especially this Saturday 9-11. It visited IAH last weekend on the 2nd flight, needs to be on the first one for any photo success...

2. Get an estimate for N623AU returning from ARA. It's just a short drive from LFT after a quick flight from IAH  Smile
