A couple of years ago a new start up called Crystal Airways was looking to start 757 luxury service called "Crystal Class" based out of Tampa. This was all after 9/11. Anybody know anything about this other than the fact that it has never officially gotten off the ground? I see they still have a webpage http://crystalairways.com

This might be a good time to start service though if USAir goes under and therefore there plans with FLL. If ATA is looking to dump their 757's and Crystal is looking to aquire 757's I wonder if the timing could be right?

Crystal seems to be brought up every quarter or so, and has been for about the last 4 years or so. There were a number of other "startup" sites such as theirs. We had almost a unanimous consensus here on A.Net that they were nothing more than elaborate hoaxes, if not fancy fantasy sites built by bored but Web talented teens.

Using the possible demise of USAirways as a reason for why airline "X" should succeed is flawed thinking. The truth is, there is still far too much capacity in the U.S..
The market needs contraction, not expansion.
The livery is unusual to me. A cross between Continental and Aeroflot. But I somehow like it.
