For MD-11 fans,
Currently JAL operates 1 remaining MD-11. It is JA8582. After 10 years of service, October 12 is the last revenue flight. It will operate Hong Kong-NRT.

Isn't it ironic they are retiring the MD-11 before the DC-10.

The 10 JAL MD-11's are going to UPS. Currently UPS is operating 6 of these airplanes.
They all have registrations beginning with N27, if you want to pick out which UPS MD-11's are the ex-JAL birds.
The N25 airplanes are ex-VASP and ex-Varig.

Thank you for the information, sorry to see these birds going out of passenger service, I saw each one depart Long Beach on thier first flights and delivery flights. At least they are still flying with UPS, who at one time was in talks with McDonnell Douglas about buying new MD-11Fs.

Hey, you know what, On the 31st of August JAL come for the last time with the MD11 to ZRH. I went there purposly on that day to photograph it coming in. It came an hour late, but it was worth it of course. Wow, I got a precious picture there. Funny enough, I didnt see that many other photographers there. My friend and I were basicly the only ones there.
