What are you doing with your US miles? Do you have a strategy for saving them, "just in case"? I'd like to hear what other US frequent flyers are doing.

Thanks.

Well I'm in save mode right now... have been for the past 5 months since redeeming megamiles for a RT Business Class trip to Asia with a couple of stopovers in January. My FF miles are with United's Mileage Plus and my goal is to have enough miles for another RT Business Class trip to Asia sometime early next year. I'd also like to book some Star Alliance Business Class travel within Asia (TG or SQ). I'l be flying UA this Dec to SIN so those accrued miles should help me out a lot.

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

I don't think we need to worry...unless anybody can give a specific example in the past 15 years of a legacy carrier in the U.S. going under without complete salvage of it's frequent flyer program. Correct me if I'm wrong on that one (I'm sure somebody will). In anycase, I'm still rooting for US.

I just happened to book a trip this weekend with all of my US miles because the wife and I wanted to get away, the tickets were available, and the price was right  Big grin

My wife still has enough for a free domestic ticket that we will hang-on to for now.

My partner is Chairman's Elite status and we're flying R/T First Class CLT-SEA on 9/16/04. If US does go under, would miles/status be honored by other Star Alliance carriers??

GSPSPOT - I don't know about status, but I'm confident that one airline (perhaps even outside of Star) will come-forward to salvage the system if need be. Through Pan Am and TWA, I haven't lost a single mile yet.

I will be transferring my points to AAdvantage...it's a pretty bad conversion rate (4:1), but its better to have something than nothing...

Holding on to them for the moment...my schedule doesnt allow me to use them for the trip that I have in mind so for the moment Im taking a "wait and see" view towards them...

I used a lot of them, so I don't have many left. Plus, I've phased out US and substituted UA as my second legacy carrier of choice (behind DL).

I might donate the remaining miles to the troops through one of those special military FF donation programs  Smile.

I have slightly more NW Worldperks miles (approx 35,000) than US Dividend Miles (approx 25,000). Is there any way to transfer miles to NW, DL or CO?

GSPSPOT - several other posts on this already exist...go to points.com or milepoint.com
