Sioux Falls, SD? I would guess it would be that seeing they got a grant for service, and this is an express flight.

Without giving too much away an Arizona city is a very real possibility  Wink/being sarcastic. We were making sure we had signs for one a week or two ago. The Sioux Falls rumor has been strong over at HP/YV especially after they won the EAS subsidy. I would also not be too surprised to see a Colorado city open up for the winter with a CR9.

Here's some additional PHX schedule changes I noticed:

PHX-YYC From CR9 2x to CR9 1x, 733 1x
PHX-MZT From CR9 2x to CR9 1x, 733 1x
PHX-OMA From CR9 3x, A319 1x, to CR9 1X, A319 2x, 73S 1x

HPX will begin flying PHX-MCI/SMF and LAS-ONT/OAK on 31OCT04.
PHX-GYM/TEX are suspended in mid-October so a Dash can go down for a C-check.

Well I'm off to San Francisco for the weekend. HP PHX-SFO and WN OAK-PHX. Take care!

Matt

I know, I know! The new destination is:

Safford, Arizona (Safford Municipal Airport, KSAD)

It will be served daily by a CR9, with continuing service onto Las Cruces, NM. Las Cruces, has a big draw because of the university, and the hassle to drive around the mountain to get to ELP, which itself has limited service.

Safford has the Graham County area, about 30,000, but it is also the copper mining capital of Arizona/New Mexico, with Phelps Dodge scheduled to open a new mine just north of the "city".

Keep on truckin'...

Small correction, but Sioux Falls didn't get an EAS subsidy. They got a small community grant. An EAS subsidy is an annual subsidy. A small community grant is a one time thing.

Well I'm glad we are bringing mainline back to YYC. I know the Canadian gov't was not very happy with Mesa's performance....their delays were causing havoc with customs up there.

I'm not sure when we will announce the new service....should be very soon though.

Ok Flyboyaz

I could tell you two new destinations.

Belize and Cozumel.

But, you tell me.

You're kidding, right? Especially with a CR9?
Now I could believe a Dash, but no way a CR9.

Safford, AZ would be best served with a Beech 1900D, if that.

The new destination is likely Sioux Falls, SD.

Lincoln, Nebraska recently received a grant as well, and has been publicly courting America West (according to the local Lincoln Journal Star newspaper).

America West used to serve Lincoln with B737s during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

HP is NOT going to do CLT with an express flight... it's got to be a midwest city...

cactus, hz747 wasn't being serious......

airframeas- I am trying to think of a city in AZ that HPX doesn't already serve, other than the Canyon and I'd doubt they'd put a CR9 into there.

So here's my toss into the ring.

Well it was loaded into SHARES so I guess it's ok to tell now!

Sioux Falls, SD (FSD) is the winner!

Good guesses guys!

Service begins December 18th I believe...1 roundtrip daily with a CRJ-200.

I'm very glad actually since I lived near there and could never afford the air fares.....I'm sure the people of the area will be happy. Let's just hope the flights run on time!!

 Smile

Flyboyaz, waht are they doing about the mammoth delays Mesa
continually has. It seems they are delayed more than they are on time.

HP has been on Mesa's back about the delays for quite some time now...we had them defer deliveries of some of their aircraft so they can "catch up" on their issues. Many issues remain however. I know that we have converted some RJ flights back to mainline to keep operational integrity. Here in TUS we have suffered horribly, as has UA...their Mesa LAX flight is always late. Very sad....

Flyboyaz, it is kind of a joke around SLC that if OO wasn't here,
Mesa would never get a CRJ in the air or on the ground. They always have
Skywest at planeside doing something to get them on their way.

Very true...same here actually. TUS is a mx base for Mesa so they come in handy sometimes. They run their planes to death most of the time, it's no wonder they break down all the time.

1) The PHX-SJO is operated by an A319
2) It is no longer in rumorville, it has been operating since December 1, 2003.
3) It's an HPX flight so no.

Not sure who will be handling the operation. The city isn't loaded into our DRS yet. Maybe someone locally would know?

25 Post contains images Hz747300 : Oh well, I guess the SAD service will have to wait... Kinda stinks--after flying into ELP, TUS, or PHX, it is still at least a 2 1/2 hour drive to see
26 Flyboy7974 : just noticed a few other changes, checking dec 1, the 2x daily las-bur go express on both flights, the morning is a crj900 and the evening is still a

30 Post contains images AS739X : BREmer...you right! By 2020 they will have an international carrier! ASSFO
