Malaysia Airlines 'H' Class

I understand that Malaysia Airlines is a partner of Northwest Airlines Worldperks Mileage Program which I am eligible to recieve air points.

However, what does 'H' class stand for? Discounted fare?

If I travel on Malaysia Airlines H class, do I get 100% miles for NW Worldperks? Or just 50-70%? Or NONE?

STA Australia is doing this AU$ 995 + Tax to a number of Asian cities. 12 months. Pretty cheap.

Perhaps if you bothered to check out NWA.com you would have seen this :

http://www.nwa.com/freqfly/earn/airfl.shtml

Earning/Redeeming Miles
All Malaysia Airlines operated flights with the exception of accrual on domestic Malaysia flights, redemption on flights between Australia and New Zealand and flights booked in G, L or V class.

Yes I did. But on the MAS website it says ENRICH members can only recieve 70% of the air points. Not sure if this applies to Northwest members.

Afaik Malaysia Airlines uses "H" class for normal market fares (but no the highest type of fares).

What about Y? Do they use Y class?

So what's the code of a normal economy class fare? Y I guess?

Coz in the MAS website it says H is a discounted fare.

If you earning NW WorldPerks miles, you should be looking at the NWA web-site. The MAS web-site information only applies to Enrich members. In short, you will earn 100% miles (that do NOT count towards elite status) for your MH flights as long as they are not domestic flights within Malaysia.

I flew R/Twith Malaysia to South Aftrica from Argentina in "H" class. As I am a member of NW's WorldPerks program I was given 100% of the miles within 2 weeks of my return. Should'nt be a problem. You dont have to enroll in Malaysia's Enrich program either.

Hope that helps!

Seems that Northwest Airlines treats its own FFs flying on Malaysia Airlines better than Malaysia Airlines treating its own FF flying on itself.

Must say NW has a pretty generous FF program.

Depends on who you fly more. If you are a frequent flier with MH, then I think you are better of with them esp if you travel up front most of the time. Not only do you get domestic accural, you have Gold points with Enrich when you travel in F or C. Redeeming MH awards flights is also easier with Enrich. So again, it depends.

Well the MH program has a higher requirement on miles redemption on its own flights as well as its partners. And for H class, MH gives you 70% of the miles while NW gives you 100%.

But again, yes you get domestic accural and you have gold points with Enrich when travelling in First or Business.

Discounted means something like "greymarket" fare.

Example:
SYD-KUL-SYD in Y might be 5000 AUD

depending on the fares they offer ex Australia to Malaysia (and I don't know their fare sheet) they might offer something like the following fares:

High season
SYD-KUL-SYD in B might be 1495 AUD

Season between
SYD-KUL-SYD in Q might be 1295 AUD

Low season
SYD-KUL-SYD in H might be 995 AUD

What does Q and B stand for? I suppose they are higher than H right?

One thing that's not made clear on the NW website is that while you will earn miles on MH (including Class of Service bonuses) you will NOT receive elite bonus miles. It's a rule very unevenly applied (since the rule states that elite bonuses = (EQM * Elite bonus % yet 50% EQM flights on CO still earn full elite bonus miles...)

I normally fly SQ and CX. Never had a chance to try MH.

Wonder if this will change if MH enters Skyteam one day

United Airline
I just gave an example. Of course Y is the highest class. Then afaik K, B, H, Q, and some other classes.

The case with the Elite Bonus is normally in most carriers FFP. Even with Swiss Travel Club you only earn Club miles when flying Swiss Intl. Airlines. Same goes for Skywards, only when flying UL or EK but not other members. So I doubt that MH would change that if they would go for Skyteam.
