Yesterday (september 11) there was an emergencylanding at Brussels international airport (Zaventem). It was an Iberia plane, and reason for the emergency was smoke in the cabin.
Does anybody know what plane it was (reg.), and what exactly was the problem?

From the "standaard":
"Een Iberiavlucht naar Barcelona moest zaterdagmiddag een paar minuten na het opstijgen een noodlanding maken toen in de passagiersruimte rook ontstond. En omdat dit net op 11 september gebeurde, dachten heel wat passagiers meteen aan een terreuraanslag."

I don't know the exact registration of the aircraft. Maybe it was an A319, who knows?

By the way, that was not the only incident at BRU yesterday. Some guy, who was jealous that his girlfriend was going on vacation one day before he could go, phoned and stated that he had hidden a bomb in his girlfriend's luggage. Everything got searched, but eventually nothing was found, so the flight (Thomas Cook Belgium), could depart with a 2 hour delay or so.

I thought all Iberia A319s are still based at MIA?!

@Alex: a brand new plane is now already flying in the EU (since 1-2 weeks), EC-JAZ.

I saw the plane at BRU today, parked remotely at the C-Pier.

Have to check my log, but I believe that it was EC-GRI, an A320.

Hope all is well for the crew, the airline, the aircraft, and all the passengers. What exactly can cause smoke in the cabin/cockpit?

Thanks again.
