Ualflyer here, I want to know about ual's business on the 767-300ER. Is it really as nice as they say it is? One more thing, if the flight goes from LAX-IAD in terminal 6 should I check in at terminal 7?

I have never had any gripes about UA's business class. If you are planning on taking a flight in this class you should have no worries at all. As for the LAX lay out I have no idea.

Yes its one of my favorite aircraft..I like the right seat in the middle section in the last or second to last row of business class! Just make sure that you don't get one of the last two rows by the window on the right ...The seats are actually 2" smaller...One of the agents didn't believe me once so we called a maintence guy with a tape measurer to check...Its true! I got a big a$$ so I can tell easy Big grin

Terminal 6 checkin for UA is for international flights and premium (premiers/paid business/first class). You should be able to check in T6, which is a lot quieter than the T7 lobby. All other checkin is in terminal 7. They are connected, so going between them is not that difficult.

UA business is a good product overall. The seats have 55'' pitch and it is rather spacious with the leg rests and good recline. Seat width is tight as it is 2-2-2. IFE is also good with a choice of 4 movies and other programming. Overall not as good as CO, but comparable with the rest of the 767 operators in the US. Food on the domestic flights is moderately good, but not as good as international service. They do not staff them on domestic flights like they do on international flights, but they are still good. You just have to be careful that you are on a 763 3 class instead of the standard domestic 2 class. Also the 762s are not that great as they only have 40'' pitch, but it is still better than domestic first class. I always try to get an internationally configured 767 or 777 when going from UA hubs to LAX.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I may be a bit biased, but I think UA business on a 767-300 is pretty good, again not quite at the level of CO's, but second to none. The business cabin is a little smaller than that of a 777 but is still very spacious and has great IFE. Four feature films and five short subjects with personal TV screens. My dad, who is 6'6" thinks they have nice legroom too. He and I agree (I'm 6'2") that United First on 752's are not good, especially if your tall. You get maybe 3" more width than Coach, maybe 2" more legroom and limited recline. This is why I don't like 752's. Generally F Class is a waste of money.

Generally, UA checks in domestic flights at T7 and International in T6. When I flew LAX-LHR, they checked us in in 6 even though the flight left from 7. You should probably stick with Terminal 7 check in. They are connected anyway, so it is not a big deal

99% of the time the 11:25 LAX-IAD flight is operated with a 3-class int'l configured 763. The only time it would be A 2-cabin is in the event of an equipment sub. The 3-cabin 763 has a nice business class. It's not the best in the industry but it is very good overall with PTVs and a comfortable (if slightly narrow) seat. I would recommend checking in T7 no matter where you are flying to out of LAX. The TSA now performs bag scanning/searches behind the scenes in T7. So if you have a bag to check, you just check it at the counter - no waiting in another line to have it screened in the lobby, as they take care of it in the bagroom (just unlock your bag). In T6 you still have to see the UA agent at the counter, then go to another line for bag screening. That should save you some time.

I flew LAX-ORD on the 767-300ER a few weeks ago and enjoyed it (sat in 5F -- a bit less claustrophobic since you don't have someone leaning back into you as it's a bukhead seat). IMO it doesn't compare with C on a 777 or 747 upper deck (comparable to the 747 lower deck). Seats are fine and include the PTV & legrests.

As RoseFlyer above mentioned, if you have status with UA (UGS/1K/1P/2P, and likely *G or *S) you can check-in at T6 rather than going through the circus at T7 (strong recommendation here if you're doing only carry-on!)

I'm flying UA ORD-DEN business class tomorrow on the 10:00am flight. Does anyone out there know if this will be a 2 or 3 cabin 777? Also, how does the business class on the 777 relate to the business class on the 767-300, compared to info in the above posts?

You're flight tomorrow is a 3-cabin 777. F is wide open, see if you can upgrade if you are already booked in C (so you can sit in the United First Suite). Business class on a T7 is great... I've no complaints even for long SFO-LHR flights. I haven't flown business on a 3 cabin 767-300, but I imagine they are quite similiar. I wouldn't be surprised if you had more room on the 777 though, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks for the info WeAreUnited! Maybe you can help me out a little more. I'm not sure of my chances of getting upgraded into first. I work for LH and my ticket was booked in positive space (this is for business travel not personal). Anyway, we were automatically booked in business when we made the reservations. So, what do you think the chances are of getting into F? Should I simply ask at the ticket counter or the gate? Also, do you have idea about the meal service? I'm so excited, this is my first trip ever in anything above economy plus. Thanks so much!

The business menu on flight #11 763 JFK-SFO is above average in my humble opinion, and to tell the truth, the seat in F is not a whole hell of a lot better than B on the 763. My friend was in F and the meal looked pretty much the same also.

HI ORD. Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. I don't know for sure if you can upgrade or not. Personally, I'd bring it up with the gate agent, especially if you get a good vibe from him or her. The agents, in my experience, have a lot more power then they try to show. It never hurts to ask if you can be upgraded. I would think, being a VERY important Star Alliance partner that you would have some sort of priority in upgrading. This is all a matter of opinion, as I work for another airline (shh... don't tell) and I'm familiar with UA and their practices thru my family. Either way, whether you are in F or C, you'll have a great flight and it will be much enjoyable. I'm sure you are flying now, or will already have completed your flight by the time you read this, but be sure to let us all know what you think. Take Care!
