Announcing our Companion 2-for-1 Fare Sale!
In our recent Choose-a-Promotion survey, the hands-down winner was your wish to bring along a companion on your next flight. So, Independence Air’s Companion 2-for-1 Fare Sale is on now! The only way to get this offer is to go to our special promotional site — flyi.com/companion — book a 7-day advance purchase fare for two and we’ll give you 50% off your fare and 50% off your companion’s fare.* Sweet, huh?
And we are telling only our iCLUB Members. Feel free to tell your friends and family because, unless they are iCLUB Members, they won’t have any other way of knowing about this very special offer. You must book by Sept. 27 and complete your travel by Nov. 19, 2004. And some flights could sell out fast. (This offer is not combinable with the $25 iCLUB promotional discount.)
It’s the sale you said you wanted — and it is available only at flyi.com/companion.

I think this promotion will work well for Independence Air. This time of the year is by far the worst time to get higher yields with airlines. This type of marketing will help spread the good word of Independence Air or break their backs (if they mess up).

NWAFA, we already know that NWA is having problems! You need to start a new thread however if that is what you wish to talk about.
If by some chance however, you are referring to I-Air, I must ask the following question. Why? SWA does this commonly during slow seasons. JetBlue as well. And you know what else, they are making money at it too! OMG! An airline that actually asks the most frequent flyers (the people really paying the bills) what they want? Your right...that is a problem. Go pour some drinks and stop being so negative!

Flyibaby,
Guess you can't see the difference from "negative" from "reality". But then, it appears by your statment that you think all Flight Attendants do is "pour drinks".

Airlines don't do fare sales like this unless they aren't filling seats. Most simply lower fares in the fall to fill seats but few give seats away. Sounds a bit desperate to me. We'll have to see if competitors match the tactic.

It is also the Fall when loads are historically light for all airlines. So why not create a sale, spin it so it seems like a real savings for select customers, and hope it works to fill some seats.

This is NOT the first time something like this has been done.
2 1/2 years ago, WN briefly had a "Friends Fly Free" promotion for a while. A friend of mine & I took advantage of it back in May-June 2002 on a r/t FLL-TPA itinerary.
