Chalk's Ocean Airways has resumed scheduled service to Downtown Miami Seaplane base, offering three flights a week to/from Fort Lauderdale. The flights are fully bookable, and are blocked for only 15 minutes.

The flights are being offered because the airline now offers three air-tour flights a week of downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The 30 to 45 minute air tours cost $49 a person.

Chalk's and the City of Miami are in the process of getting ready to build a brand-new terminal on Miami's Watson Island for the airline, which is why service had been temporairily suspended. The new terminal project is going ahead, but there have been some issues delaying construcion, namely as to how it fits in with the proposed FTAA headquarters on the site, and issues over the next-door Heliport and fears of accidents involving the helicopters and seaplanes.

I guess the main purpose of these flights is to reposition the airraft, but I wonder if these flights are popular. I guess the main source of pax for these flights are conneting pax in FLL.

You will notice the flights also connect to/from PID and NSB starting on Oct 31 and to/from NSB prior to Oct 30.

They offer the lease expensive seaplane flight someone could take if they wanted to get a once in a lifetime seaplane experience. Fly on the Sat flight and go down shoot a days photography and then comeback in the PM.
Includes 1 water takeoff and landing and 1 land takeoff and landing.
