Avianca made some advertisements on the local newspapers announcing the change from terminal A to F at MIA "for better comfort".

Cool news! We should see more airlines that are not OneWorld Members or Partners moving out of the A concourse as time progresses. Being that as you all know, AA and AE along w/ OneWorld and Partners will hold all gates from Concourse A to E. Talk about a big terminal!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about MIA, which of those terminals is really the better one?

I gladly accept donations to pay for flight hours! This thing draws man...

Well, Terminal A is newer but gates are far, so you have to walk a lot. AFAIK they wanted to renew Terminal F (am I right?)
The bad thing is that when you arrive at Terminal A you will be close, very close to BA and AF 744's , because all three flights (AV from MDE, BA and AF)arrives aprox. at the same time

Concourse A and H are the best ones. They are pretty new, very modern, open, and spacious. The worst are, by far B and C (F and G aren't that great either. D and E are decent). Luckily, B is being demolished this month, and C will be demolished in early 2005. Concourse A through D are being merged into one Super Concourse (Concourse D). They are also building a new Concourse J, which was topped off a few weeks ago and will open in about 14-16 months.

AA's current terminal from what I've seen looks like an architect gone mad...

It's distinctive however, and I kind of like it. Nothing is as bad as BWI, all you see is black, black I tell you. Big grin

When you arrive at concourse A in one of the "20's" gate, you nearly need to take a cab to get to customs, and you get there dehydrated.

Nice news! How many gates does AV use at MIA? I mean, they have 29 flights a week...

What it so bad about being side to side to a BA / AF 747? I think capacity is enough for all of them and the view must be amazing.

What I meant is bad because "we" are moving from Termnial A to F, so no more close views to AF and BA's 744. Sorry for the confusion  Big grin

Well as a consolation prize at concourse F you get the LH's 744 and 343, AZ 777, RG 777 or MD11 depending on the mood of the day, AR 742 or 342, BW 738, and from the windows you can see concourse E with VS , IB and a lot of the AA international traffic. For me concourse A is the best, new, a lot of details, I love the glass sculpture and sounds on your way in, and it is true is a big concourse, but hey it is MIA no Quito so you are already expecting a bigger airport and you have the option to take the moving walkway , so it is not that bad, concourse F although smaller requires a long walk too!!! In the future the AA Gateway Terminal is going to have a people mover(train) on the roof connecting the entire lenght of the terminal with wonderful views of the tarmac and the planes

Tell me about it !. Not that I dislike it, but I remember arriving many times in gate A23 IIRC, and it was an absolute hike to customs !

Anyway, AV in the late 90s also used terminal F, I perfectly remember arriving there too, and it seemed OK.

Didn't Air France move to Concourse F, in like August of 2003!!???

I was pretty sure that's where I saw their check-in counters, and I have seen their plane parked at F... did they switch back?

If you really want to do it, you will find a way; if you don't, you'll make excuses.

Concourse A will be completely AA, and One world, and AF is still at F Aeropostal will move to F also.
Now more airlines arriving at F means more congestion to clear immigration and Customs at E, more time to connect, and more flights.
However the counter for AV would be more comfortable, with more space for checkin , good for AV.
AV currently uses 3 gates at MIA
