Is there a reason the Iberia does not fly out to the West Coast? Is it just simply because it is too far?

i think they just find it easier to use AA for connection flights from SJU, JFK, ORD, and BOS.

i guess that the route was not profitable.

they did fly to LAX in recent history.

THE route MAD-LAX was totally profitable, but IB pulled LAX out from its network for a lack of ambition and a policy absolutely conservative.
LAX, like NRT was "sacrificed" in favour of having the best network between LatinAmerica and Europe.
AirxLiban... no always a "X" route is abandoned due not be profitable.

Everyone:

The reason IB has been operating the B744 to SJU the last few days was due to B742 EC-DIB having to have an engine replaced in SDQ. It had been out of commission in SDQ for a few days. Hence the 744 that has been doing the MAD-TFN run was placed on the MAD-SJU-SDQ route and a A346 placed on the MAD-TFN run.

Hope that helps!!

Anxelba:

I was under the impression that IB pulled out of LAX due to the low demand from LAX and the route being very expensive due to the fact that they had to have a crew based in Chicago(the route was MAD-CHI-LAX-CHI-MAD) I believe. Im not sure since that route was operated during my pre-Iberia days! LOL

IB in SJU is very unpredictable sometimes they are sched to fly down A340 and a 747 shows up ann vice versa, It seem they do a lot of Equipment change on this route. When in SJU let me know, maybe we can spot toghether..
