732 What's With The Wire?

Why do some 732's have the wire connecting to the tail? What's it purpose and why don't any other 737 Classic's have this feature? Thanks for the replies.

Okay, not knowing MUCH about maintenance/ etc, I BELIEVE it is some kind of communications antenna..

Yup, looks like every other HF antenna wire I ever put up in the Signal Corps.

Yes, the wire you see is an HF (high-frequency) radio antenna used in the 737 classics as well as some light aircraft.

I believe some Fokkers use them as well.

Actually those wires would be a typical installation on HF radio aircraft made through say the 1970's when sombody figured out how to seal an HF antenna into a fiberglass fairing.

HF Antenna.The later versions its located in the Lower Leading edge of the Vertical stablizer.
