Browsing on expedia.com for flights for my probable trip to Europe in April, and came across this:
Sun 17-Apr-05 Web Fare
Munich (MUC)
Depart 11:55 am
Terminal 2 to Washington DC (IAD)
Arrive 3:25 pm 4246 mile(s)
(6833 km)
Duration: 9hr 30mn
Flight: 903
Economy/Coach Class, Lunch, Boeing 777
Just thought I'd let those who care, know. I find it interesting that they didn't upgrade other flights before MUC, but who cares! Better than a DL 763 to ATL ! Does anyone know of any other upgrades?

Seems like this is an upgrade for the Spring/Summer 2005 schedule
Good to see UA putting in a larger aircraft!
Other UA Spring/Summer '05 European schedule changes from IAD include:
IAD-AMS: returns to a 777 at this time
IAD-LHR: gets an extra 777 segment
Cheers!

It's an entirely different kind of flying; all together.

Well, doesn't UAL use 777's on all trans-Atlantic operations? Or does it still use some 767ER's? Seems to me that they don't use 747s anymore there; those are confined to trans-Pacific routes.

Depending on the season, UA uses a mix of 763, 772, and 744 for their Trans-Atlantic flights. Currently, United runs 747-400s on SFO-LHR and IAD-LHR. During the Spring/Summer seasons 744s are used on SFO-FRA, IAD-FRA, IAD-LHR. It is interesting to note that the 744 is dropped from the SFO-LHR sector and replaced with a 777 during the Spring/Summer season.
Cheers!

Does anyone know will UA add any European flights out of ORD in '05?

Here's a complete UA Trans-Atlantic schedule from now until the Spring/Summer 05 schedule change. I think I got all of them. Hope it helps!
Looks like the IAD-MUC 777 upgrade takes place during the winter!

The SFO-LHR run was done by a 747-400 most of the summer/Spring. The SFO-CDG run was done by a 777 the same time period. LHR will drop back to 2 777 during the Fall-Spring and SFO-CDG will drop to a 767 the same time period. We can expect the same aircraft for 2005.
