Finnair has chosen Sicma's "Majesty" as the new seat for the MD-11 business class.
Majesty Chosen as King of Lie-Flat Seats
Finnair has made a choice for the supplier of its new lie-back seating to be installed in Business Class on its six Boeing MD-11 aircraft, opting for the Majesty product range produced by Sicma Aero Seat of France. The seating has been designed to meet the latest requirements of airlines. In Finnair’s case, these requirements are based on customer feedback, the monitoring of competitors’ products and research programmes. Passenger comfort has been the priority, and this in turn is linked to the ability of the seat to provide good rest and peaceful individual space, all of which are offered by the Majesty lie-flat seat product family.
Finnair is the first airline in Europe to renew all of its intercontinental Business Class cabins, a process that will begin in November 2005 and be complete as soon as January 2006. The new cabin configuration will comprise 36 seats, with an individual seat pitch of 160 centimetres, compared with 127 currently. The renewal of the cabins will also extend to modernisation of toilets, as well as the installation of new entertainment monitors. Economy Class passengers will also benefit from the installation of the entertainment system, using state-of-the-art LCD monitor technology.
Images of the new materials and cabin designs will be made available in the coming weeks: watch this space for details!
