I was looking at a magazine last night, I think it was called Airports of the World and is published in Great Britain. There was an article about the Dubai airport, expansion, etc. In the section that listed the airlines that serve the airport was CO and US Airways. I did not think either of these airlines served that airport and did know if there was some code share agreement with another airline. There was no explanation next to either airline, so I am a bit confused. I know someone out there has the answer.

CO doesn't fly to DXB, but they do codeshare with EK, on all EK operated flights. I don't think that really makes sense for listing them as an airline that serves DXB, but I can't think of any other reason.

A few months back a thread was started on this very issue. It was speculation that CO was considering service to DXB because a plane was spotted there. Possible EWR-DXB service, but it was brought up that it might have been a military flight. In recent times it isn't all that uncommon to see U.S. carriers in the middle east. I know personally that American, World, ATA, Omni Air International, and North American support some of those flights. This is the first time I have heard of US Airways there though.

Yes I thought it was odd about both but especially US Airways. I am sure there are some charters to the Middle East occassionally and perhaps the reporter saw some US aircraft there at sometime. Anyways, I just wanted to make sure I did not miss something about new service to Dubai.

DL was the last USA carrier to do so, and they killed that in 2001.

Just before 9/11, DL started a 3x weekly MD-11 service to DXB from JFK. The flights all routed via CAI. Flights were suspended in late 2001, but there have been rumours that they'll re-start flights on the route again.

Could a CO 777 fly non-stop EWR-DXB?

Only DL served DXB 5 weekly MD 11s via CAI from JFK...started off with 3 then became 5 and then suspended post 9/11.

CO has been rumored for a long time to start EWR-DXB nonstop but nothing has come off it.

I have stayed at the KWI Airport hotel for one day each in May 2003 and May 2004 and on both occassions I saw a NWA B 742 and US AIR A 333 parked in front of my hotel room window. alongside them was an ATA TRISTAR. A KU Royal Flight B 747-400 with A 310 and AB6 was too parked alongside.

FED EX MD 11Fs alongwith EVERGREEN B 742F + UPS MD 11F and WORLD AIRWAYS DC 10-30 and MD 11 passed by as well.

All 3 aircraft were carrying US military men bound for Iraq as well as lots of cargo as I saw everything being offloaded from the planes.

If you all ever want to stay in the KWI Airport Hotel...ask for ROOM # 117...best seat in the house !!!

After looking at that magazine a little closer I would not consider it too reputable. Alot of the pics were very outdated. There were pics of a CO DC-10 at CDG, lots of BA aircraft in the old crown scheme at Heathrow and even pictures with the BA Concorde in the background. The articles were present tense articles, but the pics and info was outdated. Several airlines listed at the airports no longer exist. I did enjoy the magazine though because of the pictures but I would definitely not use it as an information source.

Once Emirates starts the LAX-DXB whenever that will be, that is when I will be going to DXB. Does anybody know when Emirates could possibly start that route? I know the considered it but instead that chose SFO.
